As a Malaysian, I can give you some insights as to why pedestrian sidewalks are practically non-existent in Malaysia. The main reason is just poor urban planning. Sidewalks are simply an afterthought. Every building and point of interest in Malaysia is designed for cars. You step outside your home, you are left with no option but to drive because the road system just in front of your house is exclusively designed for cars and motorcycles, not your legs. There are no sidewalks of any kind in a typical Malaysian urban neighborhood (called taman here). I've seen a lot of my fellow countrymen saying that Malaysian hot and humid climate is not suitable for walking. While I do agree that it can be unpleasant to walk anywhere when it's 32-33 degrees Celsius outside, a roofed or better yet, a tree covered sidewalk can make walking in this country more bearable. You don't have to walk directly under the hot sun, all you need is a paved sidewalk or walkway with trees shading you from the hot sun. I would really like to walk anywhere here in Malaysia. But three things prevent me from doing that: lack of sidewalks, shade, and stray dogs. The solution is not cheap, as it involves building hundreds of kilometers of paved sidewalks with trees providing shade for pedestrians from the sun. It can be done, we just have to start somewhere.

I'm a Malaysian, and I appreciate your honest perspective, whether you're highlighting advantages or disadvantages. I value honesty in people. When it comes to countries, each one has its positives and negatives; there is no perfect country. Personally, when I travel to different countries, I also encounter things I like and dislike. This is normal and part of the country's identity that we, as foreigners, must accept, even if it's difficult. For example, it can be hard for me to find halal food, bidets, the call to prayer (azan), small prayer rooms (surau) in certain countries, also unfriendly locals but I have to accept and endure these differences.

In Malaysia, if you come across someone who cannot speak English.. they are foreigners especially those from Indonesia that looks very much like local Malays (I notice from your video at Kampung Baru) and also some other foreigners from Bangladesh, Vietnam, Nepal and India.. Local Malaysia can speak at least basic english for communication since at average every single malaysian underwent 11 years of english language classes at school..

We Malaysian don’t feel offended at all. There are no perfect countries and there are still rooms for improvement. For transportation it is easier to use any e-hailing apps such as Grab, Maxim and etc. For postage also we can use app to fill in our details but the package must be brought to the post office. The internet in Malaysia needs improvement but like you guys said we Malaysian are really living in a slow pace so there’s no rush for us 😅

Yes, Viona, you are correct Muslim chinese (including you both) have somewhat become "a cultural bridge" between muslim-malays and non-muslim chinese. Nowadays, its even trendy for Hui Muslims to open restaurants in KL (selling pulled noodles, lamb pastries etc) - and BOTH Malays and Chinese communities in Malaysia, are loving these food. This is just one example. (in fact, you should had done a Hui restaurant food review when you were here last month - do it next time).

for the postal service, we have the apps but since you're foreigner i think they don't advise you to use the phone. But if you live here and use postage than you definitely can use the mobile app to send packages.

In my opinion, the lack of pedestrian sidewalks has something to do with history when British as western colonizer came here, they built the road not for the convenience of the people, but for the British bosses to go to the highland where they drank tea with their British counterparts, or wives or their kids, or to visit plantation sites or to their offices with their cars and with drivers while they just sat at the back seat. And this mindset and city planning is unconsciously continued even after independence. Excuse that there is no sidewalks because of hot weather, is just BS. The same goes with Chinese in Malaysia. Watching your video, I sometimes wonder if the wave of Chinese immigration to south east Asia were of Muslim Chinese community like you, instead of those brought in by British to support their colonial economy, maybe the integration will be way better, way smoother, because we speak the same faith language.

There is taxi counter inside KLIA airport, travelers do not need to call for taxi, because KLIA airport is very far from city. At taxi counter, travelers just pay at the counter, then go to the pick up point and taxi waiting for you there.

Hi Ma & Viona, its normal to have bidet in the toilet in all homes in malaysia regardless of what race. If you in Malaysia again, From KLIA or KLIA2 u can take ERL or high speed train to kl city station, kl sentral station and from the you can get taxi or grab to your hotel. Faster and more convineant. Pls come back , look like you r confortable here. Take a break in langkawi island or historic town of malacca. Its totally different setting from KL city you hv visited

Is the smell you mentioned is the Muslim perfume? It's very common for guys and girls to use the Muslim perfume in Malaysia and Singapore..do hui people also use such perfume?

I think why you didn't see young couples while you're in Malaysia probably due to few factors: (1) Since Malaysia is hot, most of couples (not all) prefer go to date in shopping malls, cafes - places with air conditioning (2) Also, most of the times people going on dates during the weekend, less in weekdays. (3) I think because of you visited Malaysia during Ramadhan, so probably people don't go dates that much just because of respecting the holy month. But there are some couples spending times together or break their fast (iftar). (4) Or probably nothing do to much during the day because most of couples during the date, they go out to eat or food hunting. So during Ramadhan, they cannot eat. These are just my assumption, but could be wrong

Agree with you that the roads in Malaysia are not pedestrian-friendly. The pedestrian walkway should be inclusive to other pedestrians like those on wheelchairs and using PMD (Personal Mobility Device). Not only the road is accessible to those in wheelchairs and physically impaired but also makes it accessible to all the buildings. They need to improve in this area to make the road safer for all.

Erzhou I just noticed you mentioned Azan as Bang in your languange. In Negeri Sembilan dialect (Negeri Sembilan is one of 14 states in Malaysia), Bang means Azan too. Halal certification is a bit strict and expansive business. Malaysian Standards MS1500, MS 2400, MS2424 and MS 2636, and FSMS/ISO:2200, GMP, HACCP and FSSC international standards ISO/IEC 17065. There are too many to comply before Malaysia Islamic Development Department issues the Halal Certificate. 2. On internet, Malaysia is not fully 5G covered. Still under development. You’re right the halal restaurants are not so obvious. The best way is to just ask the workers there. There are ‘official’ halal restaurants but some halal restaurants don’t go and get the official halal status, bcos it’s expensive. Just ask ✌️✌️

Couples do watching movie together, they would buy couple seats, couples would eat together, but also sit properly in the public (well manners) so it is difficult to tell if they are dating or not.
