PAUSED @ 1:22 I am a cosmetologist and I want to tell y'all, the reason the oil works so well is because if your hair is porous, it fills in those spots,therefore, the color will be more uniform..not splotchy,,,also it doesn't have to be coconut oil, it always works best when your hair hasn't been washed for a few days!! Yeah it sounds disgusting but it works great Before I started seeing these videos, years ago, I ALWAYS put some type of oil on a customer or patrons hair, especially if their hair was clean lol. This also works for adding color into hair,,, in fact it works better because it stops hair from grabbing the color in splotchy places lol Hope that made sense

Just a tip, don't microwave your coconut oil or any oils for that matter! Microwaves are designed to change the molecular structure of whatever's being heated. This change in structure ruins the healing ability and the helpfulness of the oil. It's better to melt it in a double broiler or jut set it in the sun because of it's low melting point!
@himmajesty57589 жыл бұрын
You can melt butters in a microwave though. Like, mango and avacodo butter for all natural lotion since they don't do anything but moisturize. c:

***** I completely understand what you mean by false facts, I have made the mistake of giving some inaccurate facts before, and I have always tried my best to actually make sure I'm right. While I have done some research on the subject of heating beauty oils such as this one, I haven't found any study in which the oil was heated for a few seconds. I have only found tests done for minutes, which I will admit, isn't even related to this, but nonetheless, I have found them. www.marksdailyapple.com/oil-fat-overheat-smoking-point/#axzz3dYWNfRrN - This is more about actual cooking oils, but he does mention coconut oil and does have some facts backing up the change in structure due to the unhealthy heating. He, however, does not mention microwaving as a heat source, but just general heating. realizebeauty.wordpress.com/2014/06/21/can-you-use-a-microwave-to-heat-oils/ - This is an article that also includes a test, sadly, the test was not for seconds. It was done for 18 minutes total, checking the oil every 2 minutes. However, it does back itself up with evidence that supports the change in structure. I will admit, that I could have done a lot more research on the subject and I could have tried harder to find actual, scientific reports on the matter, but really, these were the best I could find. I would like it if you gave me any critique on my findings, I could have very easily skipped over something that would prove me wrong! But anyway, I do apologize if I am wrong and hope we can have an actual chat about this and learn a bit more!

You can carry on doing the overnight Coconut oil once weekly as long as the dye you use on top of the bleach isn't a vegetable based one, mine is soooo I can't, but I will defo do so before each hair colouring.

Wanna hear something crazy? So back in January, I decided I wanted to go from a dyed medium-dark brunette to a blonde, but I didn't want to fry the hell out of my hair in one go, so I thought I would gradually lighten it. So for a month, month in a half, once or twice a week I would use really cheap Revlon sun blonde hair dye and dye my hair to lighten it. I went through bout 10-15 boxes and each time I dyed it I would leave it in for an hour. The blonde dye lightened it bout, I would say a good 4 or 5 levels. But every time I would wash my hair I would condition the crap outta my hair. So the day I bleached it, I gave my hair a nice good deep conditioning mask and let it set, then I rinsed it out,let it dry then I bleached it using 30 vol. developer, it was a Lorel kit that lifts hair up to 6 levels. Anyways, after I washed out the bleach, I conditioned and left a mask on my hair, rinsed it out, let my hair dry and afterwards my hair looked or felt no different from when I started, I didn't even have breakage, my hair barley thinned out, but I have thick hair anyways. My ends were a little dry but they were pretty damaged anyways prior to bleaching. The next day I got a hair cut to trim off my dead ends and I was telling my hair dresser how I did my hair and needless to say, they were pretty damn impressed haha! So every time someone tells me that they wanna go blonde, I always tell them to do it that way, they thank me afterwards because their left with very little damage. I think my method it pretty good, and when I need to do my roots, which they are a chocolate kinda color, I just use that cheap blonde hair dye then I tone it with a purple shampoo then do a good condition :)

I loved your video. You look great! Yeah, you should have done the ends first and then the roots ...you are right about that. I have been bleaching my hair with coconut oil prior to bleaching and then I apply the bleach. The coconut oil allows the hair to keep the moisture and stay strong. The hair coming out at the ends is just over processed and that is to be expected. Remember after you bleach to apply any conditioner of your liking with coconut oil and olive oil if available, this gives the hair moisture and leaves the hair soft. Leave on for about 30 minutes and then lightly rinse out...leaving some of the conditioner and oils on hair. You would never believe you just bleached your hair. It will be so soft and easy to style. Your hair will look and feel so healthy. Great video!
@rebekahwalker53448 жыл бұрын
hey there, so ive actually been through beauty school (currently apprenticing) but the coconut oil might actually hinder the bleaching process, it wont make it patchy throughout your hair but it wont get as light as fast because the bleach has to breakdown the coconut oil in your hair before it can breakdown the melanin. the reason it got lighter at your roots first is because the heat from your scalp speeds up the lightening process.

Well done! You can dry a plain, unflavored gelatin masque to help with the stretchiness at the ends of your hair. All you do is melt plain gelatin in warm water and apply it on shampooed hair, leave it for 15-20 minutes, rise and condition. I always cover my hair because if it sets its a nightmare to wash out ☺️

Thanks for the video. After going platitum blonde, I only have to die my roots to keep it up, so I put the cocnut oil in my hair and not on the roots and it works GREAT to protect my ends from damage. I don't microwave it. I put some on my hands and it melts and it moisturizes my hands at the same time and then I just wash it off. If I use it overnight, I don't wrap my head. I just put a towel over my pillow and that's much more comfy.

I will be coloring my hair blonde next week using boxed hair color. My hair is a bit dry and brassy from last year's color so i want to protect it from breakage using coconut oil. do you suggest I saturate my hair w/ cc oil before i color? or should i use it after color? Btw, im using ash blonde hair color and will tone it w/ Wella T14 to reduce brassy tone .. i really want to use cc oil for protection but im afraid it will interfere with the coloring and toning process..

I want to start off with the fact that you are GORGEOUS!! Your hair is falling out because of the bleach. Not the coconut oil. I had very damaged hair from bleaching it all the time and that happened to me. I had hair breaking off all the time. I tried growing it out enough to get it cut. Start using the coconut oil to help your hair regain health before you bleach it again. And trust me I hate going to salons to get my hair done!

Hi there, just wanted to give a tips on the bleaching process. It's always best to start from the end and work your way up using a brush to apply the bleach in 1/2 or 1/4 inch sections. Your scalp produces heat so the roots lighten up a lot quicker than the rest of the hair. Also I also figured out that slathering my hair with a lot of bleach to the point where it's alimony drips helps it process better because once the bleach dries it no longer is lightening the hair. Just a few tips I've learned on my bleaching experience over the past couple of months :) and I love the coconut oil trick! Great tip :)

the reason it works is bc like yk when you dye or bleach your hair, you're not supposed to have 100% clean hair. the natural oils in your hair act as a barrier to not let it get as damaged, so essentially the coconut oil does the same thing but a lot better bc its on all of your hair

Coconut is so good for your hair, but like most things you have to make it apart of your normal routine to get the full/best effect. As for using it before bleaching, it would be just like putting the bleach on greasy hair so it wouldn't do as much damage as if you where to bleach it without. (I'm a training hairdresser, there are probably more experienced hairdressers with something different to say) great video though x

I bleach my hair often (well, I get my mum to anyway) and I've always found using coconut oil had definitely made a tremendous difference. I've never used it while bleaching my hair but for the past, four months maybe, I have used coconut oil twice a week. Like you did, I've always put it on before I got to bed so that it has soaked in for a very long time. Some kind of trick I use would be to put a thick towel over your pillows so you don't have to worry about wearing some sort of mask. But I would still suggest to use a hair bobble. I only wash my hair twice a week too, even though I'm still trying to minimize this as much as I can I don't have too much luck. So yeah, whenever I do wash my hair I use the coconut oil the night before. And honestly, my hair has never felt so soft with such minimal damage.

Can you please tell me if the coconut oil that you are using is made for hair only, or is it the edible coconut oil that you get in the grocery section of the supermarket?

Yes have used coconut oil before and after beaching it helps a lot. I liked in America so there are salon stores with olaplex here but it's really expensive.

I use crushed vitamin C mixed with Head & Shoulders shampoo mixed to a paste and apply all over the hair (or parts u want lightened) cover with a bag for a hour (some ppl sleep with it on) and it truly lifts color without the damage bleach causes. Yes you will be left with undertones...mine usually is orange-yellow then I either bleach or if I’m just going slightly lighter I color or tone using blue or violet toner. Blue for orange tones and violet for yellow tones. Wella 12AA is my go to after bleaching and it’s orange toned. But they also have timers with blue-violet bases...😁👍🏼
