I held my husband while he wept listening to this song. All he could say is, "he's singing what I feel every damn day of my life & I'm exhausted." No matter who you are, where you are, this song grabs you by the soul! And if it doesnt? That says way more about who you are than you realize. We're beat down & FED up with killing ourselves only to support the lavish lifestyles of the 1%. Oliver united the world in 3 minutes with good old Appalachian folk music. Now we have to cling to each other and continue to lift each other up. We CAN come through this stronger & better. And he's given me hope for a better tomorrow. Genuinely, much love and respect to each and every one of you

I’m a 61-year-old man from Texas. Been working earning money since I was 12 years old. I have NEVER been able to get ahead in this country. Have always lived paycheck to paycheck. Never owned my own home. Couldn’t afford to have children and raise a family. The so-called “American Dream” started dying as far back as the early 1970’s and it has gotten worse with every passing decade. But do you wanna know who HAS done better and better with each passing decade? It’s the top 10% who own 95% of all the wealth in the country - the elite classes that vote Democrat and look down their noses at all of the “deplorables” (as Hillary so famously described us) who do all the working, fighting, and dying for this damn country while the GRIFTER CLASS of politicians and their synchophants in the legacy media, Hollywood, corporate America, and the Military-Industrial Complex just keep getting richer and more powerful. They all take a great big 💩💩💩 on us daily and they think it’s funny as hell. As far as they are concerned people like us are all “losers” and it’s OK to treat us like peasants and scum. 😡

It's the most powerful song I've heard in so long i can't remember. It's authentic, raw and heartfelt. I've never seen a song resonate with so many different people at a soul level. It's American folk music, out of the mountains in Appalachia. It proves that we have everything in common that matters Not too long ago he was struggling with alcohol and depression. He fell to his knees and prayed to God to take them away and for him to go forward with his music. God answered his prayers. Maybe that's God's energy coming through his voice that's got the ability to hit people so hard. Everyone who listens to it regardless of background or music preference or whatever. A local radio station that scouts talent throughout Appalachia approached him and asked if they could record him at their expense. They posted it just days ago and the rest is history. It's the only song that's been professionally recorded. There's others that are so good too, in the top 10, but they were recorded on his iPhone and are on his channel. This one is on the radio station channel. He's so surprised at the reaction and outpouring of love. He played a farmers market Sunday and there was standing room only. 25 acres of parked cars. He said in June he played for 20 people. Lol. Before his performance he didn't plug him, his songs or his social media. He read a verse from psalms about how the wicked will not prevail. Everyone was singing along and knew all the words despite it being released only a few days prior. Its only been a week. 16 million views on KZfaq alone. He stayed 4 hours after talking to every person who wanted to talk with him and he listened to their stories. An inspirational young man with an inspirational story and an angelic voice that everybody feels. He quit his job as a factory worker to pursue his music. He bought land and lives on that with his dogs off grid. This song is recorded on his land in Virginia.

The content/context of the song is known, especially to the classes this song most appeals to. Olivery Anthony's singing style is part singing part shouting. Oliver's emphatic shout/sing style perfectly mirrors our desire to shout at those "rich men North of Richmond". Those of us who know the story of America's founding know what the "Olive Branch Petition" was. This embrace of Oliver's song by disenfranchised people, it's ascendance into the national discussion, is a literal Olive Branch Petition to those "rich men North of Richmond". They would be wise to listen, and act, because if they don't... well... ¯\_ (ツ)_/¯

For weeks now, in the evenings and sometimes at lunchtime I've been listening to First Time Reactions and even some Remix's (rappers are loving it) and I have to say I've yet to grow tired of this song or others reactions and tonight I've come across yours and such a pleasure (spilling over of Down Home) I wish I somehow had video taped my own reaction to it all because the past two plus weeks have been a blast... I was floored by the stillness and peace of the woods, the colors, the blind, the Irish/Scottish Red faced Mountain Man, his passion, the Desbro Resonator all caught my attention immediately. Only thing missing and I was looking for it, the porch! The lyrics not just resonated but totally consumed me. And still do. If i could say one thing I've learned thus far regarding this song is: he is bringing many regardless our differences, to the realization that we each have more in common with each other than we have been led to believe. I pray as a people we continue to Run With It. Run With The Truth! We are a broken Nation bound by lies and deceit and exposing the RAW TRUTH will set us free. I loved your line when you said "he's a ginger and I just had to get him on here" and what you mentioned about reminding you of "Home" I thought maybe you flustered and a bit tongue tied about a memory you might have had of being reminded of an old boyfriend from your youth. LOL Anyway, going forward, I hope you delve into some of his other songs. I would also love to see you do a repeat reaction in regard to the Lyrics of RMNOR especially where the double, even triple entendres are concerned, if I can call them that... I enjoyed your reaction!!! 2 Thumbs up!

The blues was born out of the pain & suffering of blacks in the south and it was sang with passion that was beyond comparison. That's the power of the blues. Oliver Anthony is a new generation musician that has captured the passion of the blues, spilling out his heart & soul over the realities of life. Common saying is that the blues is nothing but a good man feeling bad. Oliver Anthony expresses that very thing exceptionally well
@redheadedneighbor11 ай бұрын
Also the Scott Irish people that settled the region brought their style into the mountains with them. It has remained in the mountains and we get to hear it in its sweet gut wrenching sound on occasion. 💕💕

@@redheadedneighbor And I am of the Scottish Irish heritage of the Appalachians and even though my grandfather played old time mountain music, the predecessor to bluegrass music, it sadly never registered with me. The blues though, I'm a total fanatic for blues, and now that you mention the Scottish Irish connection, I can hear the blend of both. The main thing about this song is that like the Scots, the Irish and the African descendants, he is singing out of his heart, singing about the pain of his life that he is dealing with. I've often called Celtic and Irish music "the blues of the Emerald Isles" because it too was born out of the life experiences of the people which wasn't good at times
He isn't a professional musician. He is a guy with a job and wrote that song in his spare time. He actually does feel it because he lived it. That is why he has so much passion.

The best thing is he stood there & poured out his soul with all that passion to an audience of three, his two dogs & the cameraman. He says he hadn't performed in front of "a real microphone & a real camera" before that. I'm a West Virginian & we were raised with family gatherings, everybody bringing an instrument & hanging out on the porch. The men would swig bourbon or moonshine & the women had sweet tea or lemonade. I'd walk up to my grandfather & he would pour a splash of bourbon in my tea when no one was looking. Even today my neighbors & I will hang out & I'll carry a guitar or maybe just a harmonica or two in my pocket. People made it a joke, saying gingers have no soul. Well, I guess Oliver Anthony is the guy who said, "Shit, hold my beer then." Look at guys like this & Tom MacDonald. You'll see two very different men, but both receive acclaim because they're just saying the truth. In a world of fake thrills & even more hollow and polished personalities, people crave something authentic. Its the human experience, your soul wants to resonate with that of another.

Hey Oliver has a phenomenal story. He lives off the grid on 90 acres in West Virginia. He was suffering from alcoholism, depression and was suicidal after he lost his job at a factory he had for 13 yrs because he got injured. He started traveling around to different hollers and realized this was happening all around him. Oliver gave his life to Jesus. He ask the Lord to delivered him from the crushing burden he was bearing and he would dedicate his life to Him. A month later Oliver wrote this song and performed it on his property. He's already turned down big 8 million dollar contracts to perform on the Lord's terms. He's an amazing man.

(we, the people) Of all the views this video has gotten, if each of us spends $1.00 and downloads this song, it would take 10 million downloads for this to go Diamond. Here is the breakdown. Sales of 500,000 units for gold, 1 million for platinum, 2 million or more for multiplatinum, and 10 million for diamond. Talk to your friend and pass this message along if you are on board.
