I'm a Black woman born and raised in Chicago. Not religious or into country music... My biggest take from this song isn't that we're focusing on the "wrong" things but that we're focusing on them in the wrong way and I 100% agree. This is why this music hits so hard. It doesn’t matter your stripe, pretty much all of us are coming to realize that this world isn’t working for anyone but those city-slickin’ bureaucrats and their rich benefactors. It’s high time we all unite on that and figure out the rest out later.

Amen. Oliver stay strong, brother. I was drug addict for 20 years, broken homeless, and wanted to die. The lord touched my soul and have been cocaine free for 23 years now. I have a wife and a beautiful daughter we adopted. The world told me I was a piece of shit but had other plans. I set here on my 10 acres in my new house looking my barn and think I don't have to live in a cardboard box. We go fishing, we work hard, and the last 20 years world still tries to drag me down but keep going to Lord and keep moving forward. Thank you brother you touched my soul and gave something I needed.

I came here after a friend sent me a link to a reddit post discussing Rich men north of Richmond. They basically described the song as Q-anon country. Their disdain for work-class sensibility is disgusting. This music isnt right or left or for tin-foil hat wearers. Its raw and it's real. It's not over processed crap that comes out of Trashville that was carefully written by a panel to include a specific sr of phrases and notes for maximum marketability. I love music like this and I will be following and buying albums. I'll certain attend any concerts in my area when tours start.

They live in fear. Of being real, of laying their guard down enough, being made vulnerable and utterly human, so enthralled with their egos and the magical glitz and glitter of instant sensory gratification. Must pay blind obeisance to their (false) egos they so carefully and skillfully maintain, be individuated, atomized, set apart, etc. All excuses to remain ensconced, enmeshed, imprisoned within, behind their precious egos. Haunted and energized by their fears instead of love (self-love, humility firstly!)

His voice is so pure and honest. I'm glad this is "live" and unaltered. The lyrics are from a lifetime of struggle and survival, something a Nashville songwriter can't make the average Joe feel. But as a blue collar worker myself, I can feel and relate to every word he so eloquently sings. It's not just a "song" he wrote. It's his story. He deserves everything that's coming to him. I am now a lifelong fan. Keep doing what you're doing, Oliver. You're loved by so many who can't wait for your next chapter.

@@Bamboule05 That's because the average "Chinese, Afghan, iranian, Cuban or whatever" are normal, hardworking people, unconcerned about politics and styles of politics, and mainly concerned with raising their families in peace. BTW, you are far more guilty of spreading of spreading hate by saying, "you americans like to describe as the enemy". Perhaps you should take a good hard look at yourself prior to make stupid, snarky comments. The fact that the US citizens voluntarily contribute nearly $400 billion of their own money each year to foreign causes speaks volumes, not too mention the money the US government is constantly sending to other nations for humanitarian relief to the tune of another $13 billion. Yet people like you do nothing but bitch about America, like the United States is the source of all world problems. Yes we have our issues and failings, but overall the world is a much better place because of the United States.

I want to see this music more then the bs music they call country music these days. I hope he gets famous just so I can hear more songs he’ll write and be able to go to a concert. I love his songs.. singer not chasing fame are the best ones that I wanna hear . Real raw old school country ❤❤❤ love to see him bring country back the my grandad sang. Beautiful.
