I wanted everyone to see Olivia Newton-John singing one of her first BIG hits on the Andy Williams TV show in 1974. This video has received over 33,000 likes! People with romantic hearts and memories have written the most beautiful comments on this video. This song lept into the spotlight of popular song hits during the era of hippie music where mellow slow ballads by solo singers shot up the record charts alongside of song hits by heavy rock bands like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and the Who. Olivia's wholesome personality and raw talent complimented her Australian accent and drop-dead gorgeous face. Add that to her soothing, lilting singing voice and you can easily see the winning formula for one of the world's most popular superstars. Men and women of all ages love her, regardless of their personal preferences for other music styles.
What a TRUE talent and SUPERSTAR she is! She sings from her heart, looks straight into your eyes and then embraces your soul with her true confession of love for only you. And how about that ENTHUSIASTIC, LIVE AUDIENCE applause and cheers when she ends the song? This video illustrates the genuine response of Olivia's LIVE studio audiences. This is a rare occurrence in modern filming of performers and audiences. ALL TV shows these days cheat by overdubbing audience applause and cheers three times more than the original audience applause reaction. (i.e., "Sweetening the videotape"). Faked overdubs for TV shows begin with a high-energy comedian coming out on stage before the show starts. This motivational expert cheerleads the crowd into a noisy frenzy. They goad the audience to respond on cue with wild crowd reactions of applause and cheering and whistling. They record various "takes" for several minutes in order to orchestrate and capture, the loudest, over-the-top applause reactions possible. All alleged "LIVE" TV sitcoms, specials and talk shows in this millennia are unabashed whores when it comes to excessive OVER-USE of canned applause...or rather, "pre-recorded sweetening" tracks. But with Olivia Newton-John on this tape, the audience reaction was not artificial. There is nothing better than a TRUE SINGER and talent like her. She pulls your heartstrings and this evokes loud applause and sincere emotional reactions from viewers. If we only had more quality stars with positive attributes and mega-talent like Olivia Newton-John!

I love this song. Like all the others who've commented, it's a beautiful song sung by a most beautiful lady. It moves me. It has a further sad element to it for me. I was absolutely smitten by a beautiful girl, who as it happened bore a striking resemblance to Olivia. She was with an idiot ex colleague of mine from school whose mother was determined that they'd marry which they did but I later was not surprised to hear they'd divorced. My adorable friend and I were very very close but because of him at the time ... Now 50 years on, my heart still wonders where she is. Olivia's sad passing and hearing this song again has stirred it up all over again.

@@nigeledward-few9650 from personal experience sometimes we can honestly love someone who loves us as well, but the timing is all wrong like with you and your adorable friend who opted for whatever reason to marry your idiot colleague. You could probably find her, but sometimes it's best to leave the past in the past and just hold on to the "good memories" that can still make you smile. All the best to you in 2024.

I wasn't too interested in her when I heard her first hit "Let Me Be There" was a little too cheesy like a hippie/pop song....almost like country. And she wore no make-up and her photos were very bland. But then she starred in Grease, and....oh my....I liked both versions of her character roles in that movie: sweet and wholesome, and then fiery and hot in that black tight outfit. I was a DJ in nightclubs playing her hit songs back then and couples always flooded the dance floor with "I Honestly Love You" and "Hopelessly Devoted". A little later I loved "Suddenly" - her duet with Cliff Richard (English pop music star).

@@robertmacmillan2303 I’m so sorry for your pain. It’s very sad so many of us come from abusive families. I found I was able to fully forgive & deal w/my past, when I allowed Jesus to heal me. It was a long time coming, but better late than never. I know I never could have done it on my own. And thank God He never gave up on me, to be who He knew I could be, once I was able to move past it all. My father was the angry abuser. And not a day went by he didn’t show it & act upon it. He’s gone about 6 yrs now. God allowed things to come full circle between us, as I prayed w/him on the phone not long before he had a major stroke. My sister held the phone to his ear when I spoke to him last & reminded him about that prayer & letting all the hurt & anger go. For Forgiveness. He passed the following evening. I know I will see both my parents forever in God’s Great Heaven. And I’m so grateful for it. And Jesus.✝🙌 I’m hoping to have the rest of my fractured family there, too. I pray daily they are. Ask Jesus to help you w/your burdens & your past. Ask Him to take them from you. And be willing to hand them over. You’ll feel like you took off a lead coat. Tell your remaining sibs you love them & forgive them for how they treated & what they’ve done to you over time. It doesn’t matter if they acknowledge you, &/or your forgiveness. Forgiveness isn’t so much for them, as it is for you. But it’s nice that you will make the move, that will continue to set you free from the bondage they’ve caused. *We truly are set free in Christ.* Reach out to Him for it. And for your own forgiveness from Him. Then, ask Him to renew your heart & mind. It’s a process. But well worth the effort & fullness you’ll get, in return. From Jesus. Our Risen Savior. Who would do it all over again. Just for you. *No greater love.* ✝🙌🕊 Be Blessed by it. :)

This about two people who love each other but who are with others. I had this sung to me 48 years ago by the woman I loved then and still do even today after nearly half a century, though I have lived with and loved others since that time. I think of my first love pretty well every day and have done since we were parted. I spent decades trying to find her again and finally succeeded some years ago. I'd never dream of going back into her life after all this time as it would be way too destructive for way too many people. I wish I could just ask her one more time how she is and how she has been over the intervening time and to tell her that I never let go of our love but that would be the road to ruin. I have to satisfy my heart with an occasional listen to this song, a tear and a determination never to forget her. I have never told anyone that I know about how I feel and this post has been quite cathartic especially as no one seems to be looking at this page! Incidentally, this is, to me, one of the most beautiful songs ever written and sung by one of the most beautiful women ever to have graced this earth.

So sad to hear the Livvie died today after her final battle with cancer. I read her autobiography a few years ago and her positivity was inspirational. So many wonderful songs for so many years. Thank you, Livvie. God bless you. RIP.😢🙏

The way she looks into the camera seems like she's singing to you alone. She was truly gifted to convey deep emotions with sincerity while perfectly singing each song. Her performance of this song is my favorite!

Wow! I don't know if someone told her to look into the camera, or if it was an instinct, but this is why every boy watching this fell in love with Olivia Newton-John at this moment. She looks into the camera and is SO sincere. She's singing to YOU!
