From our Olivia:
"So my mission call came today! my family didn't tell me and left it as a surprise for after Institute class, I didn't see it coming! Although I definitely didn't see the second surprise coming!😉 MAKE SURE YOU WATCH TILL THE END 😈
(if anyone is unaware, i'm about to serve an 18 month voluntary mission for my church ( lds.org / mormon.org )
It's been something I've wanted to do for ages and I'm SO excited to do the Lord's work! Please click on the links if you want to know more about my faith / religion! Or just ask me if you have any questions 😊)" Also thank you Jack Spoors for filming this special moment.

Sister Dayton, I served on Temple Square 2009-2010. I could visibly see the disappointment on your face when you opened your "real" call. I can relate SO well. I cried for 3 days. I wanted to go anywhere but there! 😬I decided to accept and follow the Lord's will and the fruits of my decision have come back ten fold. It was the best decision of my life, besides finding and marrying my sweet husband. You may not see a lot of baptisms, but you will touch so many people's lives. And greatest of all, you will receive the blessing of sisterhood for the rest of your life. The bonds and friendships you make on Temple Square will be a cherished value to you. You will have support and love all over the world for the rest of your days. I met my husband through one of these sweet sisters I served with. You never know what your mission has in store for you. I live in Salt Lake now and I will come try to find you and say hello! Congratulations sister! You are about to embark on one of the greatest experiences of your life in one of the most sacred and special places on earth! ❤️❤️

Olivia today is returning from her 3 month outbound to NY City, and is so excited to get back 'home' to Temple Square... she has loved her mission so much, so grateful to have served on Temple Square and NY. Home March 2019, so only a few months left... it has been the most treasured experience of her life. Your words Rachael are so profound and true, thanks for sharing. :-)

Thanks Rebecca, Olivia finished her mission last month (served 19mths after extending), she absolutely loved her time whilst serving,... hard to keep her away... Yesterday Olivia flew back to SLC from the UK, to spend a few weeks visiting again (as an RM now) taking lots of treats for her companions and friends on Temple Square, she's staying with her two sisters who are at BYU Provo... instagram.com/oliviadeighton/

That is fantastic!!! I've heard of this prank being hinted at but I haven't heard of it actually being done... and so convincingly! Tasmanian Devil Language - That had people so confused but still not in on the joke. Classic.

Being a missionary is a great responsibility! The missionary must have great energy, fortitude and courage. Wherever the missionary goes, in whatever part of the world he is in, he must spread the Word. The local people must understand what the missionary is saying to them. The missionary must get the Word right to the people! Therefore, every missionary must know the language of the local people! To everyone who is going on a mission or preparing for one I would like to recommend a very good workshop by Yuriy Ivantsiv Polyglot Notes. Practical tips for learning foreign language. This excellent book will give you answers how to correctly learn a foreign language with a minimum of your time and effort. This book answers many of the questions that everyone faces when learning a language. Good luck with your important work!

Hi Kayla, she's really having the most wonderful time, serving people and teaching whilst at Temple Square, she's really come to appreciate so many things, so many nationalities, languages. They teach lots of Mandarin, Spanish and English, so many large tourist groups arrive by bus, often presenting in tours to 50-60 people at a time... our Olivia never imagined herself doing such beforehand but she's found an inner confidence she didn't realise she had.

She got that call because she is beautiful. Better recruitment for people who are obviously interested in the church and visiting temple square.

Wow, y'all are a pretty cool lot for mormons, if I may say so. Any other exmos or nevermos who'd like to pop into Temple Square for a chance to greet her? No straight men with worldy feelings, aye.

That was a dirty trick, she was so excited to go to Australia then to have to go to Salt Lake after that. Dirty, not funny. Don't do this to your children, it's not funny.

Hi Cindy, No offence was intended. Olivia had just spent end of last year 4 months in Australia, working as a live-in English Nanny, she loved it there. She's the type to feel happy and go wherever she was called, yet there is no Australia Tasmania Mission, it doesn't exist, Tasmania falls under the Australia Melbourne Mission. Olivia loves that she's been called to SLC Temple Square Mission, she's very excited, she'd be excited for wherever she was called. I appreciate whilst it may seem a 'cruel' joke/prank, it was her younger sister and I whom together put our little scheme together. Our sense of humour is not to everyone's liking, but you'd have to know our family to know 'how we work’. Olivia is very happy and not upset at all, it was certainly a memorable Mission call, which she celebrated after happily with her family and friends. Her older sister Sophia is currently serving in the Ohio Columbus Mission and returns to BYU Provo early next year. This means rather than not seeing each other for almost 3 years, they will be reunited is SLC, as Temple Square is the only Mission in the world where immediate family are permitted to visit and have a tour and dinner with their serving Missionary. Thanks for your concern, I understand why. All the best, John :-)

Not a trick, here's what happened: Sometime shortly after the original mission assignment, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles saw a photo of Olivia, and they saw a photo of her, they check out a lot of things about her including her measurements (she looks like she's 36-24-36), it's obvious she's very pretty, and since the Temple Square Mission is reserved for the most gorgeous of young ladies that's where they put her. You wouldn't want an overweight sister serving in the Temple Square Mission, do you?

@@elderbroomhead2671if this is really true, how sick that they only call pretty girls to temple square. Do you think God works in that way? Ya know, if she wasn't in a cult, she could pray and receive inspiration directly from God and know she was needed somewhere to actually do some good rather than be a "pretty" saleswoman for a multi billion dollar corporation. And on her own dime none ther less. By their fruit you will know them... Meaning a corporation who use people for their own self interest is showing awful fruit.

I kind of agree. Suddenly the video was about the joke more than it was about the young lady opening her mission call.

I really hate these pranks. Do you not realise that those calls are sacred? They are little bits of prophecy for the recipient; instructing them on where the Lord wishes them to serve. To fake one is reprehensible.

I agree so much. Neither of my children served a mission because they both went inactive at about 14. A great sadness to me and I think that the fake calls are such a shame. It may well be that she took it well on camera, but what did she really feel deep down only she knows. Some things are very precious and sacred and a decision to serve the Lord is wonderful. Sometimes this stupid PRANK thing with these callings goes too far.
a cool way to open a mission call
