Hi guys! Today’s video is all about why we are choosing to have our boys share a room in the new house. I’m addressing some of the questions/concerns from my last couple of videos and walking you through our whole thought process! I know this video is long (you know I get chatty when I’m passionate!), but I really wanted to get all of my thoughts out there so hopefully it made a little more sense. I also forgot to mention that we are planning on using a bassinet in our bedroom for the first little while this baby is still a newborn, so Christian will still have the room to himself for a bit. :) I will be sure to update you guys on the process and let you know how it ends up working out for us!
Like I said in this video, I totally understand and respect if you don’t agree and would set things up differently! The beauty of motherhood is that we can all navigate it at our own pace, so please understand that this is what works for US and our family - it’s okay if you would do something different and it’s okay for us to set up our home the way we would like! The good news is no one has to live here but us. ☺️ and if you’re in the same boat and planning a shared room (for whatever reason!), I hope this helps you feel supported. Thank you for your love! ❤️

I can’t believe that you had to make a video talking about this, I’m just flabbergasted that so many people made you feel like you have to explain and defend yourself in your own home with your own children. By the way, I’m not blaming you, it’s just that people can be so negative and sad. Yes you put yourself out there so people will question and criticize you, but this seems like such a stupid and insignificant thing for people to care so much about....

I grew up sharing a room with THREE other siblings! Four kids to one room! We were all young at the time and not once did we care or complain. My parents didn’t have a choice but even if they did who cares? We all turned out okay. People get so opinionated about the silliest things. Your boys are going to grow up being so close ❤️ you’re doing a great job

My sister and I shared rooms for most of our lives, and I know so many families who share rooms. I don’t understand when and why room-sharing became such a taboo thing in the west?😂 Do you mama!!! This is YOUR family!💗

I was going to say that we've personally experienced a difficult time with our 3 yr old and 8 month old sharing because the baby doesn't sleep well and disturbs my 3 yr old. But you said the most important thing - you know your child. You know his sleeping patterns and what he is adjusted to. At the end of the day, you need to do whatever works for you and your family. Don't let anyone make you feel that you need to justify yourself. Congrats on the house and enjoy these last few weeks as a family of three!

It's called "mind ya damn business" I shared rooms w my brothers and sister at different times and at the time we hated it but when we got our own rooms we would all still spend the night in each others rooms or all hang out in 1 room until bed time so.... 🤷‍♀️

I think it’s great for them to share a room since they’re so close in age. At least while they’re little it really doesn’t matter. People are crazy! I shared a room with my 3 sisters growing up. What’s the big deal about two small kids sharing a room?? I have 2 boys 3 years apart and the only reason they’re not sharing a room right now is because baby sleeps in the bassinet with us in our bedroom.

Ever since having my baby 8 months ago I try so hard not to judge other mums. We each know our own babies, and its our choice to decide how they are raised and how we do things. Some people need to get a grip not every parent is the same, we all make mistakes and do what we think is right and sometimes that turns out to be the wrong thing but we learn from that. Do what you want Olivia and what makes you and your babies happy, they are what matters not anyone else. xx

It’s so sad that mom shaming is even a thing we have to deal with. No one should make you feel bad or like you need to explain yourself for how you’re raising YOUR children. I shared a room with my brother growing up and it had its challenges at times but it also had its rewards just like every part of growing up does. I’m so glad you have such a strong voice and don’t let things get to you too much (it seems) because you truly are a positive light in the mom community 💕

I have two girls who are 2 days away from being two years apart and they share a room as well even though we have space for them to be separated. They absolutely love it. My older one is now 3 and younger one 13 months. Sometimes it takes them longer to fall asleep because they play but they do fall asleep and don’t wake each other up if they cry or fuss in the middle of the night!!!! So happy for you and your determination to do you as a mom and what feels comfortable for your family!

The fact that people feel the need to take time out of their day to leave negative comments about how other people choose to raise their own children, that in no way affects their own lives, is just bonkers. I don't even have time to do the things I need to do every day, let alone take the time out to insult people's choices that are irrelevant to my life. 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️. #aintnobodygottimeforthat Only you and Jordan know what's best for you and your family! I have a 17 month old son and am 23 weeks pregnant and I’m having a hard time figuring out what we’re going to do for a room with the second kid. My parents raised me and my 4 other siblings in a 3 bedroom house. I shared a room with my sister for 18 years before I moved into my own place... as much as we argued I wouldn’t have had it any other way, bedtime was the time we could share secrets and talk just the two of us about our day or anything that we had on our minds. It is truly a wonderful experience and I love this idea for anyone willing to try it. I’m sorry that people feel the need to be so negative when it’s not affecting them personally. I hope it works out for you it truly is awesome! You’re a wonderful mother and an inspiration you keep doing you mama!

I'm also having my babies share a room until we think fit. One reason due to our third room is clear across our home, so until we think they're old enough and understand the rules they'll be sharing. My sister doesn't agree with that decision but you do you Mama. You're an amazing mother and shouldn't have to explain yourself. People will always have something to say about people parent.

Olivia thank you so much for this video, and for all of your videos. I have subscribed/been watching for about a year now and I love your stuff! This video I could tell was a hard one and I wouldn’t have taken the feedback as gracefully as you have. This video was helpful for me for so many reasons. We are 25 weeks with our first (also a boy, yay boy moms!) and we do own our house and we love our house but it is three bedrooms. Pre-baby we used one bedroom as a guest bedroom and one bedroom as our split office (we both have full desk work areas in one room, yikes). Our guest bedroom is becoming the nursery and we have had push back from family already that we should get rid of our office to leave a space for them (pause for reaction). So I have already had anxiety about navigating our changing dynamic with family who are used to using our house as a home away from home. Also we want to have two kids and long term I had worried about that as the boys would have to share as it is not an option for us to not have an office. This video was so helpful to give me the reassurance that what is most important is doing what is best for our family and what works for us and not worrying about what others think. All that being said I don’t think you should have to explain it but I really appreciate that you did because it made me feel better about our situation. Your videos have educated me and honestly helped me feel better in a challenging time to be pregnant with a challenging pregnancy. So thank you for this video and for all of your videos.

I’m pregnant with my second and have a 13 month old. We live in a 4 bedroom home and the kids will share a room. I don’t get why ppl are making such a big deal about this.

I live on the west coast of Canada and my family is all on the east coast. We got a bigger space for a guest room so my family could come visit and we have visitors ALL the time. It’s been such a game changer for seeing my family and spending time with them. It’s the best!

This video was great! Totally agree with you regarding the problem of mom-shaming and negative comments behind the screen... I don’t understand how people can get upset about someone else’s life. It’s YOUR life and your choices. As you said, you can always do things differently if that would be necessary... Love from another mom who is also pregnant with baby number two (due beginning of March!) with two years apart ❤️

Thanks for the video Olivia! i'm pregnant with baby number one and we just move in to our new house a couple of months ago. Honestly, you bring up some great points that I hadn't thought about before. I am an only child too so I recognize it's easy for me to think all kids need their own space, but in realty we likely won't spend a ton of time in the baby's room. And if we have another baby soon after this one, it does make sense to keep all of the diapers and baby things contained to one room. I think, in our country in particular, the need for everyone to have their own space can get ridiculous at times. As you said, it all depends on family needs and dynamics. Thanks again!

Girl, first you look amazing today! Second, uh so sorry people were negative! It's so hard being a mom and added negatively is so hard to deal with. You truly don't know how it will turn out and it's not the end of the world if it doesn't. I had 5 siblings and we always shared rooms, at one point in our lives( in between houses) my parents rented a 2 bedroom and all 5 of us shared a room, it didn't phase us at all, we loved it! Babies are so resilient and I'm positive you guys are doing what's best for your family and no one( in their right minds) should be judging. Hope you have a great day and congratulations again on your new place!

I love your videos thanks for always sharing! I have watched you since you were pregnant with your first and I was pregnant at that time too! Because of your sharing and courage I have came over my fear of having another kid and we r starting to try for our second. I love seeing how you and going through the same situations as us and love your opinions. I never thought about sharing rooms but you make a good point about bonding and I might start thinking of that as an option!

This is crazy to me, you do you Mamma. I didn’t leave a positive comment on a previous video as really didn’t think it would be needed. In the nicest way I don’t care if your boys share a room, lovely to see your beautiful new set up but 200% your choice how you do things. Keep up the good work, strongwomen lift other strong women up!

I don’t normally comment, but I’m so sorry that you are having to address this! I will never understand why people have to be mean or voice all opinions. 😩 My sister in law has always said she wants her babies together in the same room. I have never thought to do so, but if I were to have another baby soon, we would have to. I think it will be such a sweet bonding experience 💙 I actually had not even thought about how daycare helped acclimate our babies to other babies crying during sleep. Thanks for the video and for the different points of view❤️

Your just soo sweet 😘 there's nothing wrong with how your arranging your home. I feel like people are jumping the gun and not being nice to say things about how your planning your life. You are so welcoming in sharing your life with the public that you should never have to explain yourself. People should be great full that you do share your life on KZfaq...kids sharing a room is soo normal even if there's other rooms in the house. I shared my room and there was an empty bedroom for guest.... your thoughts on the guest room is so true, people definitely want to be able to close a door sometimes and have a minute to themselves (definitely more than people realize). I know for myself, traveling and not having a space definitely impacts where me and my bf will go, and it's also nice to be able to get away from people sometimes. I know for myself, not being a parent while visiting a family with kids can make someone more tired then they are use to ...and I traveled with a baby who I was watching/ caring for it was a week trip...i liked being able to go to the room with them and have privacy for naps, changing, when putting them to bed, etc....it makes total since to me to arrange the house the way you have...your such a strong woman to make this video and explain yourself and why your doing things this way, not because you have to but because your happy to share your life with the world...keep doing you :) Im sure your oldest son might experience some adjustments when the new baby comes but it's something normal when growing your family but it doesn't mean he won't enjoying having a sibling or sharing a room. Im #29 weeks with first baby and my guest room is also going to be baby's room too and if I have guest in the house, baby will sleep in my room for a night or so. Just something we want to have an option for in our 2 bedroom home.

I totally agree with you on sharing rooms. Both my husband and me shared rooms with siblings and we really bonded. Our troubles were sharing the bathroom because we were so many in a 2 bedroom apartment when I was growing up. However today my husband and I are renting a 4 bedroom house with 3 and a half bathrooms. My son is 1 and a half and I'm 16 weeks pregnant, we are sharing our room with my son )he sleeps in his crib) and our little girl (due in August) will also be in the same room. We planned this way because I feel uneasy of letting them be in a room by themselves. It's a very scary thought that something might happen while sleeping and feeling guilty for not being there. I'm scared because on the last house we lived in we got broken into twice! The 2nd time I was 1 week due with my son and the theif left a mess in our room! So I have a reason to panic for leaving my kids alone. When this happened we were gone for just 2 hours and it makes me think they were keeping watch. We moved to a safer residence but I'm still scared. ... In the future when they are older I will probably have them in their own rooms... but right now.

I shared a room with my two sisters growing up. You’re an amazing mom and your sons will have such a close bond from sitting up and talking to each other as they get older. Congratulations on the move and new baby boy on the way 💙
