The recent event in Star Citizen introduced the Idris as a flyable (kind of), yet extremely rare ship to see in the verse. The experience of participating in the event proved to be extremely frustrating for players as it was very hard to actually get in the event. Having said that, the Idris is an iconic ship from Star Citizen and even just flying the hollow unfinished version is good fun. Olli43 shares some feedback on the event and showcases some Idris gameplay.

Honestly the way you hijack the NPC idris is such an old school videogame trick, it reminds me of exploring out of bounds in Halo 2 or hijacking the anti air Wraith in Halo 3

I was luckily able to find on today, only because I joined the organization discord that had it and acted as a member during the event. They held it for 4 hours, then after a while, cig flipped the switch and nuked the idris and its event and all 15+ of us blew up.

Can't say im too surprised with this, CIG events have never worked. Hopefully they let us tour one at Invictus week like the jav. That would go a long way to helping everyone that couldn't see one.

As an Idris Owner i kinda thought the event could have been alot better, i server jumped so many times trying to at least get onto a server with one that would show up let alone being able to board one and have a look around. Its alot difference an experience being able to walk around the ship and check out a ship you own over just seeing ppl stream it or make videos on it. i think they should have parked one somewhere in an armistice zone and not able to be stolen just for those ppl who wanted to check it out take and tour around it.

It's like someone at CIG has an idea and someone else says "YES!" and then it is a plan. They could have spawned Idris' in various places, even empty ones. Idris' can land/leave planets, so it would have been rewarding to find them. Instead of jumping servers, players could have searched areas together or found one during their missions. Additionally to making one of them flown by the devs, I mean. They should spend more time planning these things.

I don't think people realise that the big capital ships are going to be running multiple missions at the same time. You might have a couple fighters doing bounties, while a drop ship is running bunkers, a cargo ship is bringing in supplies and the Idris will rendezvous with a Starfarer tanker to refuel, before doing a convoy escort mission. How else can you support a huge cap ship ?

The event should be across all servers regions and should be available to everyone.....and it's not plain and simple the only people who got in are people who happened to be on a server with streamers on it.. once the event started the servers were locked.

I got super lucky and had a player in my server take the ship to grim hex so everyone could go onboard so was one of the lucky few to actually see the ships interior in person

I thought the same thing, that they should have had one docked somewhere again for people to explore the newer interior. The chance to fly and win one is enough to motivate people for the actual capture event and it would have brought more players on just to explore it.

All these events are learning experiences for CIG to perfect their game. We are no doubt, the test pilots handling defective ships so the engineers can perfect them.

When Idris came out , it should be the loaner ship for the Polaris, Perseus, Javelin and Kraken! Letś everyone ask for that ! I have a Polaris and I want to fly the Idris so much

i gave up with idris event with the org am in, its was too painful to search, doing was not worth it, we had a guy who kept quantum jumping around in the idris, couldnt even get close, plus didnt help that u couldnt quantum jump to the idris it self

On my servers it was not possible. A few pvp weirdos forced their style of play on everyone, attacked every player and destroyed the Idris so that no one could even take a look. Afterwards they lured people in the chat to "look at Idris" only to shoot them down. Events? Not with this type of players. :P

I hate how hard it is to participate in these events. It’s one thing to have difficulty in winning the event. It’s another to not give everyone who want to participate the chance. I own a bloody Idris M and I haven’t been able to see its interior yet.

Mate... lets be honest the event was fun... but........ infrequent Idris showing up and the server hoping meant you spent more time doing that the getting any chance of getting on a server with one... was just lucky we got the one we did..... was a long day of us trying to get lucky... But i would say was a good test as well at sorting out a group of SC player to get involed as i feel more of that is needed not just solo playing all the time... I do hope they release it soon and we can really have a play and feel to see what having big ship combat will be like...

I dont think 1 man should be able to fly and fire the rail gun. Basically makes it a 1 man capital. I think a pilot should only fly and a co pilot needs to fire the rail gun.

I got the event 5 times, every single one was ruined by griefs, people flying it to nowhere and “content creators constantly in quantum so they can record/stream the interior to fuel their viewership. Fantastic that some few find it funny to ruin for the rest.

It’s shit that sums it up I’ve not seem one where the event isn’t being greifed mine wasn’t cig devs controlling it it was npcs killed them then someone blew the idris up that’s happened twice and one time it was gone I followed it for about 30 minutes before the event was withdrawn again

Probably not. If it’s as heavy and painful to control as the 890 then I can’t see it being a daily driver. Probably best used as personal space house to dock your ships and bedlog.

I got to attempt the Idris 3x 1. The idris failed to spawn on its marker 2. The CIG Idris was rammed by Retaliators until death. 3. The server with CIG Idris 30k'd when we got it shut down.

they was only gonna let a select few creators know where they would be. they wanted everyone else just flooding server so they could fluff the active player count for hype to sell more "limited" cap ships. every year for 10 years they been selling caps but it was told they would keep it a small amount to keep them somewhat rare lol

To be fair although we all know this was a sale event. The numbers of players (accounts) have increased over the years so if they sell a few capital ships every years the percentage might be the same. 100 Idrises for every 1 million accounts for example. That being said this is a bullshit event created by the marketing department.

The only thing I've seen of the Idris over the past few days is people in chat asking where the Idris is. As a mostly solo player, I would have appreciated a stationary showroom model somewhere. Maybe at ILW.

Most people have misunderstood the Idris special event. It wasn't for us, the backers. It WAS FOR SQ42 testing. We are Beta testing SQ42 features now. Arena Commander Master Modes mode is testing SQ42 ship combat. 3.23 will bring more SQ42 features to test.
