And I thought the stays on the old house we live in were put on the wrong way! Haha. My wife wouldn't let me turn them around anyway, even though the wind would rock the window back and forth and loosen the screws! Appreciate the effort you put into making thee vids. Cheers, David

Haha, they can be either way around, but this way is the correct way IMO. sounds like the fastner needs adjustment :D Thankyou David

briliant mate love it.....just making new windows for my 1919 built Arts and Crafts home...replacing the horrid 80s plastic with stick on lead ones...am replicating the originals and using the monkey tail stays and fasteners but in iron.....one interesting thing all the original stays only had one stay pin each...all around the estate

They only used them as stays in the past, so the window shut on a fastener then opened and held on the stay.

Hah! Just got a couple of nice brass stays and fasteners from Broughtons to replace the original zinc-and-plastic crapware, and thought I'd see if there are any tricks to fitting them (yes, there are!). I thought those stays looked familiar... Thank you for the videos - very clear and useful!

I wish I'd used the sort of quality fittings you have there. Mine were relatively cheap ones and don't really do the window justice. I learn something every time from your videos. Thanks, and keep them coming. My next job is to reinstall a sliding sash window that I've renovated. I'd really appreciate a video on how you'd tackle it, especially how to secure the box to the brickwork.

I always look to Broughton's for quality ironmongery. They dont sell crap and will custom manufacture whatever you want, in whatever finish too. Sash window... i have some lined up to do, its just a family (non paying) job so its fitting in between jobs HAHA the box generally just sits in the brickwork and shouldnt need too much securing. when initiallt fitted wither wedged into place or steel strap into the brickwork.
