The #OlsenTwins are the original Hollywood child star. They were forced onto set at 9 months old and continued to work everyday of their lives onward. These twins have been thrown into the limelight without any support and it shows... They now live a very excluded and isolated life. Its sad to see how society failed them, including Oprah!

I was honestly so disgusted by the way that on the first episode of Fuller House they said something like “oh Michelle’s too busy building her fashion empire in New York” and then they all stared at the camera all condescendingly. It just seemed so disrespectful after all the trauma the twins endured for so many years and the fact they have been open about not feeling comfortable acting in anything.

I always loved Oprah but I have to say that she IS extremely rude, some might even call it racist. My mother owned one of the top salons in North Chicago for 25 years & did her hair multiple times there when Oprah was JUST starting out, when nobody really knew her name other than Chicagoans. She’d come in JUST before closing apparently bc she thought she was too good to be around the average folk even though I reiterate, she was NOT famous. My mom still treated her like royalty & gave her a peaceful, BOMB ASS cut on her natural hair left her looking like a Goddess & after all that, when my mom asked for one picture of the two of them together, she threw a whole ass fit & my mom put off telling me that story so as to not kill my love for her but when she finally did, I did my research. I talked to ALL my relatives that were working at the salon that day & I googled others’ experiences to make sure my momma wasn’t playing. Heartbreaking but true, y’all

The countdown to their 18th birthday was the most disgusting thing in the world and it was the first time I saw that because they are only a few years older than me. Truly disgusting and the fact the countdowns like that still exist for young performers like Billy Eilish, Bhad Bahbie and Disney stars! So repulsive for people to look at a child and think “oh they’re almost old enough to eff without going to jail!” It’s still a child, 18 and 19 are still teenagers and if someone is thinking about having sex with a teen=child there is something wrong with them!

It's actually P word culture. It's literally praying on a kid (someone w youthful naivety that comes from having minimal life experience) as much as you can legally get away with. I can't wait until society catches up to common sense morality. At least the 27 year old who dated me when I was 19 apologized for ignoring how immature and young and not ready I was to be w a grown man. He recognized on his own what his friends had been warning us both was true. I was just a kid. We couldn't have known better when we were 18-22 we don't have any way to know, we havent lived yet, but when we get older we see we were taken advantage of by older adults who should have known it was wrong. And now we're old enough to talk about it gross ppl wana insist its OK. Now this whole generation of younger ppl in those relationships are telling society it was wrong, I was too young. You can't tell us we're wrong about something like that.

I think this might also have to do with the USA's taboo on sexual behavior. As an individual I think it is perfectly okay to speak about sex, as it is one of the most normal things in the world, but the media turned it into something taboo, promiscuous etc. But I think we are moving towards a time where it is being more normalized and these question don't hold as much weight as they used to?

As someone who has been educating myself on trauma and child development the most disturbing part of the video was when you talked about how much they cried on set when they were babies. A crying baby needs to be comforted by her mother and if baby's cries are not answered, that is very traumatizing. It seems like everyone on set was more concerned about the production rather than the wellbeing of those babies. And that was just the beginning for them...
@grandmaowl7348
@grandmaowl7348 11 ай бұрын
Good point. The girls as babies really need a lot of stability, love and nurturing. A television show set with tons of people and bright lights and commotion would, I believe, be traumatizing to a baby. And if the girls were subjected to any kind of abuse I first blame the parents for putting their children in that situation and also not watching those children every single moment they are on set. As a mom and grandmother I would never subject my babies to that sort of thing.

If Bob Saget did anything to the girls, I feel like that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Cory Feldman said pedophilia is the biggest secret in Hollywood, so there were probably producers, directors, agents, tons of people we don’t know who victimized them in some way. But sexual assault/harassment isn’t the only horrible thing that can happen to a kid. They had very little autonomy over their lives. Their childhood was bought and sold. I have been told I have daddy issues, been asked who "hurt me," been told i need therapy, and I find that all super disturbing. I just feel like I have more in common with him than men closer to my age? These girls grew up being treated like adults, and being around adults their whole lives. Something occurred to me watching this. The girls started working at 9 months old & their job was to be a family baby. That "family" showed the baby physical affection, kissed the baby, held the baby, etc. That may have been no big deal for the adult cast & may have felt "natural" to show affection. I imagine the cast had no idea they were forming two future adults' realitiea the way we understand they did now. Ultimately, the babies grew into children & teenagers with *zero* bodily autonomy that entire time. They were allowed to be kissed & handled by non-familial strangers for short bursts of time their entire babyhood & beyond. I suspect the girls started to understand that, which absolutely supports MK's ED because it may have been her only mechanism of controlling her body. I grew up under a MSBP mother & learned my entire life under her was a lie. I feel like they started to grow up & realize, "We've been working our whole lives, but most kids just go to school & play sports." It probably started to feel to the young ladies like they were really getting the short end of the stick. A lot of horrible behavior towards MK & Ashley was treated as okay because the ladies were really rich. *They weren't allowed to have their own feelings.* Society really did fail these now women. I understand why MK & Ashley don't want the public to know anything about their lives. They've never had control until they took it. What an incredibly creepy, horrible childhood growing up as community property on a TV show.

@@carolebrunette thanks mate. I think society's treatment of young celebrities has not improved, but worry that it's shifted to other stars. Kylie Jenner grew up as the ugly duckling on a very popular TV (& now one could argue is the most beautiful woman on the planet). The highs & lows these young stars go through have to be difficult when they were involuntarily signed up to fame. I worry that the newer generations are being victimized by a new type of stage mom that doesn't even need to schmooze "the industry" to get their child famous. In my day, only really attractive, outgoing kids were forced into talent agencies by their mothers. Now it's normal for young moms to start "building their baby's brand" as soon as he's out of the womb. These kids are going to grow up learning love is conditional & only based on likes, shares, & followers. That scares me. (Sorry for another novel, I've got opinions on this because I almost had a sinilar fate but my mom was too lazy ultimately.)

It is as if I am looking at their triplet, who was whisked away to be raised by a lovely family who nurtured and protected her, while the other two were forced to sing for their supper and "run" a billion dollar corporation as kids. You can visibly see the toll it took on the twins, having Elizabeth in the media as a reminder of what could have been, had they been allowed to grow up naturally. I love Elizabeth Olsen though. I doubt she will ever speak about it, but I like to think the twins protected her and helped guide her onto the impressive path she is currently on. Something good coming from something tragic.

Some twins are used babies, written out of the show, and never see a set again, most probably with no memory of such a young age!

you could say their parents wanted to secure their future, and they did. in that respect we could argue they were good parents. like parents sending their children to a private school to secure a future position in society. alternatively we could argue there was no way for them to foresee how mk&a would be received. there are actors who live relatively normal lives. I personally would say that a capitalist and sexist society is what led to their downfall though: people clamoring for information on them, buying tabloids, counting down the days until they turned 18 (there was literally a countdown website) was probably more of effective in who they've become than having parents who allowed their kids to be cast in a TV show and helped them set up a company that actually allowed them to remain financially viable for their rest of their lives. No conservatorship, no squandering of the wealth earned through hours of on set child labor. Honestly...i don't know much about the adult Olsens but there are worse parents.

They are genuine psychiatric conditions that are not controlled by behavior modification. It takes intense multi-level facets of treatment in order for someone to reach full recovery. full house used to be my favorite show, watching it back as an adult, i get so skeeved out by how the girls were treated. moreso than any of the other characters, they had to kiss their adult co-stars on the lips, be held, tickled, etc. by all these adult men who were strangers to these little girls. i don't have children, and i know it's "acting" but i look at some scenes and i think i'd never, ever be comfortable with my baby/little one being "handled" the way the girls were by the adult men on the show. even if things were innocent, the girls had no choice or say in the matter. even if nothing nafarious happened on set, i am sure there is trauma there, and that's something they could probably recognize as they got older - just how not okay their childhoods were. it's probably why the two of them seemingly are so close only to each other. all they had was each other. i adored their shows and movies and books and everything MK and Ashely back in the day. i still love them so, so much and it just breaks my heart to think about everything. we're all adults now, and yet i feel so, so, so protective of them. it seems like too many people failed these girls

When you think about it, most child actors are way older then the Olsen twins when they started out and normally WANT to be actor's and land jobs/get famous. These girls were kinda thrown into it wayyy before they knew what they wanted to do with their life's. And in the height of their careers/fame they had absolutely NO privacy and couldn't trust anyone or just be 'normal' teens. Maybe they just decided that the famous life wasn't for them and could've forced them to shelter themselves from the world to regain their privacy and live 'normal' life's...

Right, but I think even if a 10 year old child says they want to be famous they don't have a real concept of it. Even adults who have never been in the spot light know what it is really like. In my opinion, children and even teenagers should not be in any industry at all. Not only do they get exposed while growing up but also all those pedos. They are so vulnerable, we have to protect them.
@missalisha9644

I totay agree with you all, a child shouldn't be subjected to work at such an age as they truly don't know what being famous really entails. They just see the 'good' like being rich, being able to buy what ever they want, having fans and paparazzi follwing them around. They don't realize what the rest of it is really like. I agree that there should be an age limit set in place to keep young children from working in this industry. They wouldn't have a 'normal' childhood & wouldn't experience life as a child should. And I've heard of a lot of them that decide to not attend college either, which obviously isn't a good idea as 'making it' big or being as famous as the Olsen twins were is not a guarantee....

He OD’D on sleeping pills because he was filming the Dark night at the time and he was playing the joker and he had a hard time dealing with how dark it was and couldn’t sleep so he ended up taking to many pills in an attempt to sleep

@@ravenferrari4768 That's the official story. It's also bullshit. If Heath Ledger could make Brokeback Mountain and come out of filming that type of movie for that particular time period ok, he would have been fine with playing the Joker. Don't buy the media hype about these actors sudden 'od' deaths.

@@unitedstatesofsmash3638 bullshit based on what? Lmfao. You conspiracy theorists are something special. Most of the young stars in Hollywood are on drugs and he had a known addiction. Totally plausible he od’d. Hollywood is toxic af. And not for nothing brokeback mountain wasn’t nearly as dark as Dark Knight. Not everything is a fucking conspiracy. People die every single day. It’s kind of how the world works. He accidentally OD’d. There was an autopsy. The toxicology reports literally concluded that he died of an accidental “abuse of prescription medications” that included commonly known painkillers, anti-anxiety drugs and sleeping pills. Lastly, there are numerous interviews he gave we he himself said that the Joker role had been difficult for him and that he had been using prescription drugs to manage recurring bouts of stress and insomnia. Like come on. You’ve got to be coo coo for coco puffs to see a conspiracy here. There’s ample evidence that makes the official story of his death pretty much settled. I’m not sure what makes a person so gullible or prone to conspiracy theories but I’m telling you (and I have no reason to lie to you about this) somethin’ ain’t right in yer noggin and you should get it checked out.

@@Jeymez I bet you also think the government is our friend and here to help. A lot of Hollywood deaths are not what they seem. Take all of those people who knew the Clintons that supposedly killed themselves, like that's all coincidence...
