The 35 series was manufactured for three decades in three distinct phases. The last phase from 1966 to 1978 spawned some of the most popular rangefinders from Japan; including the 35 SP, 35 RC, and 35 RD.

I loved my 35RC, travelled the world with it, 42mm excellent compromise for travel, often used it for black and white available light, stealthy carry and shoot. Always wished it would go to 1600 iso. Bought an RD for the faster lens but much less pocketable and went back to the RC.

I'm talking about 1992-1997 roughly. There were still some mercury batteries around then. When they finished I think there are zinc ones and adapters?

I have the SP black, it's a very nice cam, had the battery circuit modified for the modern batteries. Thanks for posting the video!

Hi Just wondering how these stack up compared to the yashica me 35mm. i picked one up in great condition recently at a charity shop for £2.50p

The Yashica cameras get a lot of love, but unfortunately I've never used one. £2.50p sounds like a bargain for any old working Olympus, Yashica, Canon, Minolta, etc. Have fun.

I have a cheapo EC that doesn't work at all, it winds but they electronics are fried and the battery socket is messed up. I opened it up and found wires going everywhere and the wires to the battery gone. If anyone has a repair manual I'd love it. Thanks

What a shame jimmy7train. The 35 EC is a great little camera, but it may not be economical to repair (even if you do it yourself). Unfortunately I have not seen a repair manual for this unit. Hopefully one of my subscribers will be able to help.

As you know, I know the 35 SP but all those abbreviations for the other models confuse me no end. Was there some rationale to the model lettering? Is there a table of model names vs features? Liked the photos at the end :)
