Olympic medalist Sharron Davies MBE calls for compensation to be given to victims of the infected blood scandal, as her mother suffered as a result.
Some 82 victims of the infected blood scandal have died since recommendations were made about compensation for people affected by the scandal and their loved ones, campaigners have said.
Sharron says: "Nothing will bring back my mum but people need help... we need to shove the Government into some action!"

It shouldn't be the UK taxpayer who fits the bill, but rather the pharmaceutical giants.

It should come from both pharmaceutical companies and insurance for victims of harm by the UK Government. Most of the Doctors were fully aware they were both infecting and lying to patients and their parents. My brother was infected with HepC when he was 4 years old. It's time these people are given the compensation for the massive impact on their lives, further to your point however, the government are intrinsically responsible and are more than happy to spend taxpayers money in avoiding responsibility. If this hasn't affected you personally, please consider the magnitude of suffering of children and parents and show a little respect. Thank you

The main point here is that the government have had 40 years to save and put aside money to support the victims and their families. But there was nothing put aside, only the victims. This compensation is long overdue and noone wants to see the NHS suffer as a result of paying. But if it does affect their insurance, then perhaps they'll think twice before knowingly poisoning children with deadly viruses in order to study the effects. I think we can all agree that this type of scandal should never happen again. Next time it may be your kids who go into hospital with a bleed and come home with HIV.

It’s a disgrace, I myself are a victim and was given a drug, The Magic Bullet at the time, I isn’t know then I had had the dirty blood, but because I had Hep C, but the bullet shot me with Lupus! Double barrel smoking gun!! Wow and to think I was grateful😳I would like to have the names made public, of those who went shopping in America for this blood!, and how much Blood Money did they pay for it! INTERESTING EH?, I wonder too, did they Barter for it, or just handed the dirty cash over!, even more INTERESTING💀☠️💀💀💀💀💀☠️……….

@@jermainelong1843 But he is Johnny on the spot and can intervene to do the right thing. Also it is a pattern of government to drag these types of cases out and spend more in enquiries than it would just paying the bloody compensation.
