That’s not what happened. #5 tried to go around Martinez but cut in too soon (watch where their feet are in the lane). Instead of putting out her hand and holding her line she moves to her left and bumps #8 into the other woman. It was a cascade of mistakes, but does not appear to be anything intentional. How much "claiming space" is within the rules? #8 just throws an elbow at 3:04 as she tries to blast between two runners, Martinez one of them. She ends up getting 6th, but it's so blatant i wonder if she was taking revenge or something.
@stt5v20028 жыл бұрын
When I play back slowly, it looks like #8 is jostled by Martinez and pushed slightly in, causing her to clip the foot of the runner in front of her. That runner was knocked across the rail and lost some momentum. #8 was running a straight line just inside the first lane line. This kind of thing happens in a tight pack and is within the rules. The better tactical runners will position themselves to avoid this problem - often in the lead, at the back, or on the outside. If you are surrounded, you have to watch your left, your right, and avoid running into the person in front of you, which is pretty difficult.
@FutureOlympianVJ6 жыл бұрын

@kevinwilliam16737 жыл бұрын
3xplosiv0 Actually, if you watch it real slowly, you'll see that it was Morgan Uciny that caused the entire incident. she was coming around Martinez, then crowded and cut Martinez, which caused Martinez to crowd into Efrainson's space. Efrainson just happened to be a young amateur who made a "rookie " error....which was to be completely "boxed in". once Uciny started crowding Martinez, it was like a domino effect...thus esulting with Efrainson trying to claim her space, which she was entitled to do

4:04? that's not going to cut it, and they were running all out. Dibaba ran a 3:59 the other day while being out of form, with here PB being 3:50(WR). Hassan's PB is 3:56, who runs for the Netherlands....should these gals even go to rio just to get 5th, 6th or 7th Place? They're all doping, so the biggest difference is the training and technique. Americans lack true butt kicking, where their kicks don't even come close to being near their butts. ..at 300 meters that kick has to come in strong to finish fast.
@arudolph228 жыл бұрын
First of all, Jenny, Shannon, and Brenda did not run PRs in this race. They are all sub-4 capable. And if you think it's pointless to go an Olympics to finish seventh, then you don't fully understand sports, commitment, or desire.
@arudolph228 жыл бұрын
Also, they're not all doping. Some runners dope. Some.
@ishnock8 жыл бұрын
+arudolph22 I'm just saying that none of them are going to medal, and I was being cheeky in the first place. It's was more of rhetorical question, considering how slow they ran. ..technique and form wise they have a long way to go, still very very sloppy.
@ishnock8 жыл бұрын
+arudolph22 majority of them are...that's fact. Considering track and field has been tainted since the 1930s, most have to take something to get to the starting block. A lot of American runners dope, as well as East Africans, etc . American runners still have shit form and technique. It's disgusting to watch some of them run, because of the lack of efficient running. Rupp and Centrowitz are the only Americans with great efficient forms, so they will have a chance to medal. This 1500 was a horrible display of running, from the slow pace, to the constant tripping, and the weak finishes... Americans have to do better, because this isn't going to cut it.
@Ignacio1116928 жыл бұрын
PBs don´t matter at the olympics. Look at the 2012 olympics, Dibaba didn´t even make it through the rounds and they only ran 4:10 and slower in the final. Look at Leo Manzano, nothing to do with this conversation but he´s a clear example that PBs are a secondary thing when they have to go through rounds. He beat at least 3 or 4 sub 3:30 runners in the final and got a medal, and his PB is no faster than 3:30 I believe.
