Let's just get this out of the way. The US, is only one of a handful of countries that use a ',' comma to separate thousands. Everywhere else they use '.' periods. US: 1,000.00 Europe: 1.000,00

Am American, a well traveled American, and the reason we use commas in lieu of a point is to eliminate confusion of decimal point. Additionally, American English is grammatically the official language of Pilots, Nautical Ship Navigation. For the same reason we don't say ZED but Zee.

@@karlom.3399 Again, American grammar is the universal standard for most professionals like pilots, doctors etc. As is the US DOLLAR its the international trading currency. We are Americans and we run the world sir. YT is an American platform so is internet, GPS, Microsoft, Apple, Facebook etc. You don't tell us what to do

@@sarvotham1563 In some countries the . and , are switched*, maybe that's where the confusion came from? Or perhaps they just misread. *So 1/4th would be 0,25 instead of 0.25. That also means that 2.250 or something is a number in the thousands not 2 and a bit. Although you usually only add a dot or comma in very long numbers and not that often for a number in the thousands (I think)

It's correct, 42, 195 km means 42.195 meters. Thats what the "," is for , and not "."
