11 months later, and you've successfully predicted the name of Cunard's next ship. Well done!

QE2's propulsion plant is inoperable and her propellers were cut off at the ends of the propeller shafts, the shafts then being sealed to reduce the risk of major flooding. Her propulsion plant is still in place for structural integrity and stability reasons, to avoid the same problems Queen Mary has had. Her lifeboats and davits have been removed, not to mention all the other systems she had to be a seagoing ship have either been removed, replaced by systems geared to shore services, or are also long since inoperable like her propulsion plant. She is also long since out of class and long since out of abiding by the multitude of ever stricter regulations that govern seagoing passenger ships. Finally, she has old ship issues which would prevent her ever being seagoing again, at which point you'd be better off time and money wise building a replica. These old ship issues were also factors in her retirement in 2008. As a former passenger with many happy memories, and QE2 being my all time favourite ship, I would love nothing more for her to be able to sail again and to be able to experience that again, but it will never happen and she has earnt her retirement after sailing a record 5.6 million nautical miles, being pushed harder than most ships for most of that time, and making records that still stand today and will stand for many years to come.

My understanding is that the ship was not named after Queen Elizabeth II (note Roman numerals) but was named as a successor to the previous Queen Elizabeth ship. Hence the Arabic 2. The ships full name is Queen Elizabeth Two. No doubt, experts will be able to ratify or correct this statement

Well that’s because the QE2 isn’t a fully steamer. Rms stands for royale steamer ship and it was a mini cruise ship. SS stands for steamship that’s because it doesn’t rely on steam that much and MS stands for motor ship because it relays fully on motor

I believe she did carry the RMS title, similar to how the QM2 carries it today; not as a functioning mail ship necessarily, but simply as an honorary title :)
