I believe this is the first digital camera with image stabilization with weather sealing. Revolutionary at the time. Correct me if I’m wrong.

Pentax K10D had both in 2006 and probably it wasn't the earliest.

Three years ago I wanted to get a good mirrorless slr at a cheap price; with good quality, cheap lenses available. This was the clear choice. I settled on the Panasonic 25/I.7, the Panasonic 12-32, and the Olympus 30mm Macro. Each one of them is first rate and low cost. I have not been disappointed. Right now, my EM5 is in the midst of a huge negative scanning project. And short of a drum scanner, I can't imagine better scans.

I still have mine, and honestly it's still quite usable. Sure the EVF isn't great in this day and age, but everything else is quite alright. Also with a grip it is quite comfortable. I have one of those cheapo after market ones. Works quite well.

So glad I subscribed. I own this camera and agree with everything you said, both the good points and the bad. I sorted out the grip in situation by getting the extended grip. I'm currently using an E-M5 mkII and also had to buy a grip as it too suffers from this issue, especially with heavier glass on it. I have invested pretty heavily in Micro four thirds as I was blown away by what this camera was capable of with just a kit lens. Pitty you got rid of it as some of the glass available for micro four thirds puts some of the big names to shame. Both the 45mm and 75mm f1.8 lenses from Olympus are phenomenal and aren't stupid money on the used market, particularly the 45mm which can be had for $200 to $250 all day and even less if you're lucky. They transform the camera. As always thanks for the content. Contemplated making videos like these myself as I'm a bit of a camera hoarder myself and have quite a selection to start with but I'm not as talented a photographer as you and many others I've watched. I tend to use my gear more for capturing moments than making art. Thanks and keep up the stellar work. I appreciate the time and effort that goes into this.

Thanks so much for your awesome comment. Your definitely right. I knew when I sold it that I was letting go of a truly awesome camera. It’s so capable and I don’t think there’s any real bad points about that camera that doesn’t have a solution. Battery grip etc, nice glass and a tripod and this thing would be unstoppable. Guess it just wasn’t the right time for me to become an Olympus shooter 😅 now I know how powerful they are I’ll always be keeping an eye out for them 👏👏 I don’t want to push you to start a KZfaq channel.... but, I’ll give you the advice that someone told me that got me to start- “ no matter what your video / content is, there is always going to be an audience that will “get it” and follow you”..... my channel is living proof of that 😂😂 You make a very interesting point that I hope to discuss later on a video.... “what types of photos we take”... Ive noticed shifts in my shooting from capturing moments , to more artistic style and beyond.... it’s a very interesting realisation of what photos mean to us 🤔

I got myself one of these just days ago, I already have the (original) E-M10. I was drawn to this for its weather sealing, and as it's functionally very similar to the E-M10 I think we're going to get along fine!

I have been using the MkIII for almost a year. Great camera with almost all of the features of the EM-1 or even 1-X. With small hands the grip is fine and the new plastics body I like more than the old body. I wouldn't have bought a MKII and would have gone for a second hand EM-1 if the MKIII hadn't appeared.

Great overview. I was looking at the Olympus cameras not to long ago, when I decided to get a "fun" camera. I decided to pick up a Pentax Q ironically and am glad I did, thought it has some quirky faults. Sad that Olympus is out of the market! Great content!

Thanks heaps 🙏🙏🙏 yes it a tough call with some of these cameras... their all very capable and can get the job done... but it’s finding what resonates with you. The Pentax Q at times would really bug me. Trying to shoot indoors is almost impossible without flash and it doesn’t always hit focus , and the shutter button is a bit toy like...... But all that being said, it’s the most fun camera I’ve ever used. And I truly believe that that experience can be seen through the photos it captures. I tend to capture more spontaneous family and life shots 👌

This kit lens is the first edition that came with the first EP1 and EP2 the mechanism and built quality are not the best but is it SHRP ! . It's my best kit lens after trying them all specialty in the edges and corners !

I have 2, that I bought in 2021….I bought em both from eBay for dirt cheap, bundled with lenses and battery grips….takes great stills and the video isn’t bad either…..

Great video! I never owned the em5 for the very reason the grip is too small! But the em1 is perfect! However I’ve been eyeing an em5 to keep a Panasonic 14mm on it to act as a 28mm point and shoot! Might be interesting!

I was thinking about selling mine (Exc condition & with grip and many lenses) but decided not to do so. I enjoy the look with vintage Canon FD lenses and the Metabones speed booster.

I have an E-M10 (the non-weather sealed, cheaper version). Absolutely lovely cameras, easy to use and tons of modern conveniences for a 10 year old camera. + awesome glass as you get more ambitious. it’s a little small. If you like a chunkier grip get the E-M1. The kit lens is good optically but I absolutely hate the electronic zoom. If I was buying it again I’d buy it body-only.

I too had one of the original om5s. I think I paid 1500 to get it shipped early from Hong Kong. I bought it to replace my Sony nex-5 which was killing me because it had no viewfinder and my eyes were just starting to go! I sold the OM in 2013 and of course I started missing it immediately. FF 8 years and I bought a cool black one for a tenth of the price. I think I will keep it forever, if I can find a pro zoom for the same price!

As a side note I must say that selling that OM proved to be a huge mistake as it ended up giving me a severe case of gear acquisition syndrome. And I still have not recovered 😭.

Which cameras (if you don't mind me asking) are your main ones? I'm trying to see which setup works best and I think we have similar goals and likes when it comes to camera gear.

When I take video with this camera, it always seems to be adjusting for lighting, even when there is slightest movement. Am I doing something incorrect? Has anyone else experienced this? It is distracting on the video.

I very spontaneously got one for 55€ because it has a slightly annoying fault sometimes.. Absolutely loving it though and can´t believe its a 9 year old camera.

Yes you can, track down an OM-M4/3 adapter and you're good to go, and as someone shooting adapted FD glass on my E-M5, I fully recommend going for adapting the older glass so long as you like running full manual, which I do, but YMMV.

Yes, with an OM - M43 adapter (widely available on your favourite well-known online store) - of course you have to consider the crop factor as well as full manual operation, but I can and do use older OM-fit glass on my M43 cameras!

Is this camera can work with lenses without any electrical contacts? Nikon and Canon DSLRs, except the most expensive ones, seriously limiting camera abilities with such lenses.

I could care less who subscribes and I do NOT need anyones approval. let it go and make videos because you enjoy making them thats my advice. Why is my opinion or anyones important to your life? Not really sure what the 2021 in the title had to do with the reason to own it. The only person who needs to be proud of you is your wife. Subscriptions are simply a number that has no relevance to who YOU are. I am subbed to several people and after a while I even forget their names and only search again for one or two every now and again. Please dont take offense to what I say but it touched me when I heard you have such enthusiasm when you mentioned your wife.
