I think they're going to do a map-revamp rather then expansion. Rather then expanding the map, they'll add more roads / buildings / decorations (trees, bushes, ect.) We might also get a weather app in the new phones. The phone UI might also change. Now if you say something while talking on the phone, the text pops up above you. Now I think the text wont pop-up above you, rather only on the phone.

I highly doubt a significant map update will come from these updates. Looks like it is focused more on game features than play area. The devs don't want to increase the size any higher as it will cause the gameplay to be spread too far apart.

Yeah agreed. My opinion on a map expansion is not needed due to the amount of players what play emergency response in an average server, cause most of the map is empty anyway like you said. Also people will have to keep getting better game graphics due to the amount of detail in the game, meaning less people might play due to the lag.👍
