I've owned this watch for 20 years. Nice to see what's inside. Greta video.

Could have been my watch. Sent mine in during Covid, took 9-10 Months to come back. I love my watch. And works like new now. ❤️ (although I didn’t impact it, that I knew about). Love the work you guys do to these watches. (Edit: dev not my watch. I got back enough pieces to make another watch. 😆 Corrosion inside,‘I believe. Thought it was a diving watch?! 😆 Did a lot of ocean water with it).

Just had mine serviced. Now I get why they charge what they do. Amazing.

As long as your watchmaker lets you know exactly what he did and charges you fairly for work done. Some may spend more time for extras like polishing/valet work.

Nicely done! Great video. I had mine serviced by Omega last year at a cost of US$750. It looks and feels brand new, even though it’s over 10 years old. Definitely worth the price!

Excellent video! I'm not a watchmaker but a bit of a collector. I'm thinking of getting one of these Omega 1164 300M Chronographs. I love how you showed your coffee break! :D May I ask how long does the lume last at night on these vintage Omegas ?
@awatchdiary10 ай бұрын
It depends on the current condition of the Lume really. Taken care of, they should work for years through the night. They work best in pitch darkness. Any night lights or bright sleeping room will significantly diminish the apparent glow. I can still tell time for Superluminova watches 5am in the morning.

A fascinating and informative video. I have the same watch, which is working fine, wondering how long I should wait before sending it for a service. I live in the U.K. and I understand Omega charge £800 + tax☹️
@awatchdiary8 ай бұрын
I understand Omega's service interval recommendation is every 5 to 8 years. 5, if its a daily beater or stretch it to 8 years if it's not an everyday watch. It will be good if there's an Official Authorised Omega workshop in your area, or you have a capable independent watchmaker serving you. This is not a fancy coaxial or special caliber so I think most decent watchmaker should be able to do a good job, as always ask around for a reliable workshop or best yet, Omega Authorised if you can afford it. I wish you all the best and continue to wear this nice watch in good health and spirit!
@neilbailey28938 ай бұрын
Mine is a coaxial so presumably even more expensive to service!
@awatchdiary8 ай бұрын
Omega Authorized charges are the same standard between coaxial and usual swiss lever escapement. Coaxial escapement lubrication requires more finesse and requires oiling under microscope. I do charge a little more for coaxial here. But its good problem, depending on how you look at it! Please share the cost of this "Omega seamaster professional" watch in India. And How many old this 'Omega Seamaster professional' watch!!!? Great presentation ❤ Superb
@awatchdiary8 ай бұрын
It's an old watch using the 7750 based caliber before it was modernised with co-axial upgrade. I think it should be 2000's. I am not sure the pricing, you can check out chrono24 for the available resale prices.

How much did it cost to overhaul, repair and polish?
@awatchdiary7 ай бұрын
They usually cost abit less than what Omega charges if I do them. At Omega It would be about $800-1000
@joewatkins16675 ай бұрын

@mmcmc3476 Жыл бұрын
So if you use D5 on the center second, is there a risk that the hand will not stick/propably when reassamble? The wheel gets cleaned, but the hand will still have D5 in the tube? These hands on 7750 really is a nighmare to get off some times. I have broken a couple of tubes on the way 🤪
@awatchdiary Жыл бұрын
You are right. But the D5 usually does not affect operation as the friction is already excessive.
@awatchdiary Жыл бұрын
The other way I have hear from other techs is to set a heating plate to 60-70C before even trying. Of course, you will also do well to be extreme wary of some Chronographs like Breitling (newer models). These have a high failure rate of hands damage as they are so tightly fitted stock, unless you have Breitling parts account.
@mmcmc3476 Жыл бұрын
Thanks! Yes, my Breitling Chronomat was one of them where the tube snapped and was left on the seconds wheel.

Very interesting. Any idea how much Omega would have charged for this service/ repair?
@awatchdiary Жыл бұрын
For a chronograph, non-precious metal, it comes to be around 800USD, plus parts. I just used the price calculator on the Omega website: www.omegawatches.com/customer-service/interventions-and-prices/price-calculator
