I have a 7.75 inch wrist and it fits me perfectly. Probably how a 40mm wears for people with smaller wrist than mine. I feel that it wears slightly smaller than my Oris 43.5, even though the omega is slightly thicker. However the Omega is so much more refined, streamlined, and comfortable. I'm in awe by this watch.

I owned this watch for a while and it is really great. I did have issues with the anti reflective coating getting scratched very easily. It bothered me so much that I ended up just using poly watch and taking it off. I now own a Seamaster Diver 300, and so far the anti reflective coating has stayed perfect. I've heard that Omega has improved the durability of the coating, so maybe this issue has been resolved. Anyhow, it's a fantastic watch that I may one day own again. I love the bracelet. In fact, in my opinion, it's so much nicer than the one on my diver 300. My least favorite thing about my watch is the non tapering bracelet, but this does not have that issue. Like you said, this watch is made to the highest quality standards and a person can't go wrong with it. Just know that it's a chunky beast (sits tall too). I like substantial dive watches so this is not a problem for me. Thanks for the review!

@@JustBlueFish Yes it was much easier than I expected. I was extremely nervous, but in the end it was actually easy with no drama at all. Here's how I did it...I used my Dremel!!! Yes, I know that sounds scary, but it's not. I just used the softest felt pad and also I ground down about half of the metal that screws into the felt pad to assure it wouldn't poke through the other side. I just used a slow to medium speed for a couple minutes and it was perfect...as if the crystal was brand new except for no AR coating. I would do it again in a heart beat. Trust me it's easy. I'm the kind of guy that is not mechanically inclined, and even I did it with ease.

I have this watch in 43.5mm size with black ceramic dial and bezel. I wear it everyday I love it, I noticed I was putting some minor scratches on the bracelet and clasp so I took the bracelet off and fitted an Omega rubber dive strap, I chose the black with orange trim strap which actually belongs to the model with black and orange bezel but I love the way it looks on my model, and it makes the watch a lot lighter to wear. Mine's starting to lose a few seconds a day I need to send it off for a full service, but I don't want to be apart from it for 2 weeks while it's being serviced and tested.

A great review Guy. I've seen the Planet Ocean a couple of times at the AD but so far one has yet to land on my wrist but the PO is still giving me that itch. I love the dial and even though I'm not a fan of the date at three it sort of works much better than others that I've seen and agree I do like the 6, 9. and 12 numerals. I can also vouch for the quality of the bracelet with that brilliant on the fly micro adjustment. It works the same as my 300M. The AR coating is also very good on these, almost like the crystal isn't their at some angles and works really well with the ceramic dial. Now that I've seen another recent review of the PO I might have to scratch that itch at some point and compare the two different sizes on my 7" wrist. At the moment I can't justify another diver...... can I?

Great review thanks. I too have a 6.5” wrist, but I’m definitely getting the 43.5mm version. I had the Seamaster 300m and the PO actually wears smaller lug to lug. I don’t mind the thickness as I already have a Tag Heuer Carrera chrono which is 16mm thick. I think the 39mm version is too small, a proper dive watch needs to make a statement.
@Youtubeuser1aa

What statement does your watch make?
@boeing700
@boeing700 2 жыл бұрын
Omega needs to make this watch thinner! Even the 39.5 version fits like a chunky puck on the wrist. Short lug to lug at about 45mm, and still too thick at about 14.5mm case thickness. Why can’t Omega size this piece like a Rolex submariner at about 48mm lug to lug, and 12.5mm thickness? Why Omega? You’ d give Rolex a run for their money! All Planet Oceans use gold on their markers and hands. The dials are very legible and useful! They just need to be sized for normal human beings.
@JustBlueFish
@JustBlueFish 2 жыл бұрын
Like the Sea-Dweller, I assume the thickness has to do with the water resistance requirements, and not specifically a design choice. That said if they can make it thinner and maintain the specs, I'm all for making it thinner.
@boeing700
@boeing700 2 жыл бұрын
It might have to do with movement. I’d rather them bring it up to 300 meters from 600 meters, and change the movement to something that allows a thinner watch. I’d be a buyer of an all ceramic version at 42-44mm but with a thickness of no more than 13mm. I like the innovation with case materials. I like that they use gold on applied markers and hands on all Planet Oceans. I have owned two of them, including an all ceramic 39.5 version, and neither one of them worked. The fit on my 6 3/4 wrist just doesn’t work. It’s too bad because if sized correctly, this watch can be a threat to a Rolex Submariner.

I just happened to have looked up the curret cost in Canada (July 16, 2023) and this watch is "on sale" for a good price i.e. less than a Speedmaster MOon at regular sale priceand the 300m Professional...heh...Had I $8k CAD to spare.... Interestingly another watch comes to mind that i think compares but only lacks the cache of the Omega name....the Tudor Pelagos a 500m/titanium watch, auto helium valve at he 9 o'clock flush with the side of case..no knob for $2k CAD less....smaller watch.. Which do you go for if consifering these 2? :) To be honest most of us don't dive so the "500 or 600m, helium valves..." just says "...IT CAN..." and gives you a more solid watch with better seal than a 300m or 200m watch (obvious reasons). Omega as i said has more cache....and that IS partly why we buy expensive watches (even if you dont admit it)....who wants to spend 5 mintues giving a speech on the hisotry of the brand to non-watch people....the Omega name most peope know almost as many as tose who recognize the Rolex name.... And in a "sea" of generic looking dive watches the Planet Ocean does stand out IMHO...

Guy, Your right its a great watch. I love the design. I think its even nicer than the Seamaster imo. The 39mm of this model suits my wrist 6.5 inch better and probably will yours too . I personally wish it was not so heavy and thick though. For me its a little too chunky to be an every day wearer and would gladly accept 300m of water resistance if they would only reduce its thickness and weight a little . I am a huge Omega fan and have owned several including my current Aqua Terra. Omega continue to frustrate me though. I think there is a huge market out there for them to make a slim 40mm diver to take on the Rolex Submariner directly.

I have to add here that the helium escape valve on this watch looks decent compared to the omega seamaster diver 300, this is my biggest problem with the diver 300 it's how out of place that oversised extra "crown" looks, however in this watch the more discreet helium escape valve actually looks decent, I like this watch but for me the best choice of the seamster lineup would always be the vintage looking seamaster 300 co axial master chronometer

Agree, Mario. I have a fairly small wrist, and I was pretty set on the 39.5. I went to my AD and tried on the 43.5 and thought it looked just fine since the LTL is in that 48-49 mm range. My AD said that while they can obviously order any of them they don’t stock the 39.5 because every time someone would order one or come to try them on, they always went with the 43.5 even on a somewhat smaller wrist after comparing the two. My 43.5 in blue should be here later this week or early next week.

It is a large watch, but the I have always felt the design works well with the size. Great summer watch. Omega Seamaster holds a soft spot in my heart as the 300m was my first "nice watch". Hi Guy. Good to see your video and find your channel. I have a blue PO and love it. Disappointed you had to mention Rolex though so I need to stick up for the 👑 It’s just not as good as a SeaDweller/DeepSea. It’s by far the best Omega IMO and the only one I like. It’s fantastic value, but when you hold it with a SeaDweller/DeepSea it’s obvious why there is a price difference. Power reserve is not as high as Rolex (its five hours less on the smaller size too). The bracelet is lovely. Again much better than other Omegas (even has a taper!!), but again, just not Rolex standard. The bezel may be as good as a Submariner (I could not comment as have never turned one) but I do not think should be compared to a Sub anyway, and is inferior to the standard Sea Dweller (which is sublime) and the DeepSea. Personally I like the hour hand feature as it gives a point of difference and feels quality to adjust. The fix is that Omega make it no date in the next version, and put a ‘3’ digit in its place. I think the smaller version does not have this feature so guessing a quick set date instead.

@@ProfessorPesca I generally agree with the Wart being bad and do not want to be one of those people who say they don’t notice it. It’s bizarre not to notice something on a watch that’s there to notice things on that you love (not to just tell the time). My take on the PO is probably unique. I do not like the design of any other Omega enough to buy one, and appreciate the HE is a part of Omegas DNA. The PO is a chunky watch with a lovely shaped chunky crown, and the HE valve on it is equally well shaped and sized, kind of suits it, and I feel it would be odd if it was not there on it.
