The 70's was definitely a funky time in terms of watch development. I love it!

I grew up during the 70's and must admit a prejudice against the aesthetic of the time. Too much "design" trying to cover too little quality, IMO. Still, you showed us some very nice examples. Thanks as always!

I thought the 70s were pretty dreadful too ,especially living in the UK . Music was ok though 😊

It strikes me that the 70s "proper" doesn't really begin until 1973-ish. Many of my favourite watches were made in the early 70s, but they are designs that were launched in the late 1960s and lasted until the early/mid 1970s. These funky shaped watches seemed to appear in the early 1970s, but there was an overlap with late 1960s designs until about 1975.

You’re absolutely correct! Like some of the Seamaster Deville designs.

Can you please clarify. At the 5:38 mark in the video, the movement of the watch on the right does not have the words Omega Watch Co engraved on the wheels or anywhere else on the movement. Is this common? I was under the impression that no engraved wording is an indication that the movement is not original (have been replaced and/or fake). Thank you.

There is a round patch like piece on the movement that shows a tiny Omega logo, word Omega, and the movement serial number.

I have the ref 166.0168 and love looking at it. Ive been using it as a daily watch. Unrelated but i also picked up a ref 135.010 and a 166.033, What do you think of those?
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel Жыл бұрын
135.010 is a manual wind Seamaster Deville a ted smaller than 135.020. 166.033 is a regular Deville-only model. Both are wonderful watches with one of the best vintage Omega movements.

Question: I have a 565 in a gold filled case, but the movement has the 5 position adjust movements/logo. It’s a Seamaster. Is that possible?
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel Жыл бұрын
565 caliber should only say 24 jewels on the automatic bridge. Adjusted 5 positions and temperature is on the bridge of caliber 561 and 564.

Why 166.070 is undervalue? Its pretty nice looking watch
@TimelessHistoryChannel
@TimelessHistoryChannel Жыл бұрын
It is a nice watch, but collectors will only pay so much for these watches. 166.070 and 166.041 have the same undervalue issue. You can learn more from this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q71lpqxkut-dhWw.html

In my opinion 1970s wasn't a good decade for watch movement quality and case design. The movement design was very agricultural compared to the previous decades,which was due to lack of budgets. Funky solid lumps of stainless steel strapped to my thin wrists feels uncomfortable,but the watches in the video are more acceptable.

From the mid-1970s, Omega watch designs pretty much go downhill from there.

70’s Omega unfortunately directly links my brain to inherited Tissot movements that were rebranded as the 1xxx Omega series. Not the best movements in the business.
