My father died in September 1977, aged 52 and I was 18. I spent the winter in quite a dark place (naturally). This song came out in March 1978. One day I went on a bike ride in the sunshine, and this song was in my head. It helped turn me around to enjoy the things I loved before.

I remember when I was at a birthday party in Fulda Germany ,my German friend was playing that song ELO Mr. Blue sky's, we had LP,s back then, she kept playing Mr. Blue Sky's over and over again on that record player because it was her birthday party 🎉

At the end of the song, "Mister Blue Sky" was written on the screen, but what they actually sang (through the voice box) was "Please turn me over." The track was the last on one side of the LP record, and the ending was a prompt to flip the record over to keep listening!

This tune so reminds me of a place i worked back in the early 80,s . It wasnt particularly exciting where i worked ,but the era was just a great time in my life , being a young lad at the time,i was about 19 years old , now 63 time is a flyer that's for sure🎶

ELO are a fabulous group. Jeff Lynne is a musical genius. a master guitarist, songwriter, arranger, producer, and genuinely really nice guy. Check out the concert "Wembly or Bust" released a few years back. It's two hours of complete joy.

ELO was the first concert that I ever took my wife to when we were still dating. (1977) Jeff Lynne was good friends with George Harrison and produced several songs by George. He, also, teamed up with George in forming the Traveling Wilburys. You really need to check that band out, too.

The lead singer and guitarist is Jeff Lynne who later helped form The Travelling Wilburys with George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbison. They are on tour now!!

ELO was one of kind and a fitting follow on to The Beatles with whom they were friends. I think it was John Lennon who said they were doing what The Beatles would be doing IF they were still a band. Their connection with and approval of The Beatles is the stuff of legends. You must watch the "All Over the World" flashmob video with people breaking into dancing en mass from India to the US to Lithuania. I highly recommend listening to Concerto of a Rainy Day which is a compilation of fours songs ending with Mr. Blue Sky. Jeff Lynne, the master of ELO, went to Scandinavia to write part of his album and due to the nonstop rain had writer's block. In his frustration he decided to write about the rain and then finally the weather cleared. Jeff Lynne said in an interview, “It was dark and misty for 2 weeks and I didn’t come up with a thing. Suddenly the sun shone and it was, ‘Wow, look at those beautiful Alps.’

This is the song I start every day with. I'm glad you like it. Perhaps you can play it when you start your days in the future.

Growing up my little sister used to annoy the hell out of me playing this album constantly day after day, tragically she lost her life in a car accident a few years ago, 40 years on and this song reminds me of Linda and i now love this song.

E.L.O. have loads of fantastic songs and they sound just as good (if not better) live than they do on the studio versions. My favourite song is 'All Over The World' which is a happy song and there are flash mob videos on You Tube to this tune.Jeff Lynne was also in the super group 'The'Travelling Wilburys' with George Harrison (The Beatles), Roy Orbison, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan.

Out of the Blue was the very first album I bought way in 1978 when I was 13, I am 59 now and still have copy, complete with poster and cardboard cutout model of the spaceship.

I was born in 1971 it song about opening your curtains in the morning and the sun is shining not a cloud in site. Yep they know how it feels.

They had a lot of great hits such as "Showdown", "Telephone Line", "Can't Get It Out Of My Head", "Strange Magic", "Livin' Thing", "Do Ya", "Rockaria!", "Turn To Stone", "Sweet Talkin' Woman", "Wild West Hero", "Don't Bring Me Down", "Shine A Little Love", "Confusion", "Hold On Tight", "Twilight" etc.

I could recommend so many ELO songs ..this is my area era wise..Jeff Lynne lived not far from me just outside Worcester in the West Midlands..Jeff founded the bank with Roy Wood ..they were both in The Move..a popular and successful band in the 60's.. The music of Lynne is just amazing..Evil Woman..Strange Magic..Sweet Talkin Woman..Turn to Stone..Thunder and lightning..Diary of Horace Wimp..Telephone Line..Living Thing..Do Ya..Shine a Little Love..Rockaria..and many many more.
