A $100 k would be a stretch for this open cockpit airplane. This is what is wrong with the aircraft industry today. We don’t want a ready built airplane and how many people can afford $200 k for an airplane?

Blame the aviation bar. Every time an amateur pilot flies into the ground or ocean, some lawyer will attempt to prove it was a design flaw in the aircraft.... win, lose or draw, it costs $$ to defend. It has been estimated frivolous lawsuits have doubled the cost of light aircraft.

I love the trend of new aircraft embracing traditional design, however pilots should be wary as it seems some major mistakes have been made by Kaelin Aero and the A50 Junior team. 1: This aircraft clearly has major inefficiencies in production for the price to be so high. 2: Kaelin is a German company and seems to operate with many European expectations of general aviation that leave them poorly prepared for the American market (Rotax, no kit, glass cockpit, overpriced). 3: A partnership with the new WACO Classic company is going to give them a rotten image. WACO is known for nothing other than producing massively overpriced iterations of old aircraft for no other reason than profiting off of nostalgia. This new iteration of the A50 Junior sets an eerie precedent for these overpriced reproductions and makes one wonder if WACO's grubby hands were behind this project from the beginning. Kaelin had better split ties with WACO before the American market kills them. We have too many cheaper aircraft that do their job better. An aircraft like the junior should never cost nearly $200,000. Wonderful and welcome idea. Poorly implemented and marred by odd decisions and marketing ideas.

Lol what? Your comment is clearly from the amateur enthusiast's point of view and not that of a viable business. 1. It's a niche, low-production aircraft. When you have low-volume niche products, you increase price in order to increase profit. This is price management 101. 2. They've made choices that make it accessible to the most consumers. Rotax is reliable, pretty common now, and generally known for being a headache-free engine. I know you probably want a radial, but radials are unreliable garbage that need to be babied to run decent. I know you want your six pack, but that big glass display makes it easy to fly. And I know you can't afford it, you're not the market. 3. And yet WACO is still in business, maybe they don't want yours? Your just salty because you can't afford it, and it's not catered to your wants. If you think you can do a better job I look forward to you being at the next show with something.

@@TheOwenMajor I'm allowed to be critical. A lack of skepticism of these products is what allows them to become so expensive. For 200k you could get something else of far higher performance with the same engine and avionics. Something was made overcomplicated along the way. Yeah, obviously if something is low volume it would be expensive. But this is also what killed the new Luscombe Aircraft corporation which has been struggling with legal battles for the last 30 years and produced around 5 aircraft in that time frame. Very similar story. They wanted to bring back a legacy airframe. They had all the tools to do it. They made it lighter to be LSA and made plenty of cost reducing measures. That airplane still ended up being in the $200k ballpark. Handwaving ridiculous costs like you are doing just to "own" someone doesn't make you a badass, it just allows people to continue poor business practices.
