Subscribed. We’ve had an automatic chicken door for two years now. Such a great investment for our homestead. Our batteries have lasted for two years through 15-100F temps. Looking forward to following your journey! -Nick & Danielle in the mountains of Arizona.

Do you check the batteries regularly? That is one worry of mine. Glad to hear yours has been helpful.

@@GunterHomestead nope! Just check to see the chickens daily. Ensuring every chicken is healthy, eating, drinking, etc. if the door is not opening, we will know right away. Buy lithium batteries. Not lithium ion, but lithium. They last way way longer than alkaline

Can it be mounted on inside to prevent sun damage and or theft.

I don't see any reason it couldn't.

PS They suggest you not use power screw drivers probably to prevent cracking if over tightened.

Looks good and not hard to fit

The only real problem I had was that the bolts were only long enough to go through plywood so I had notch out the 2x4 I had behind it.

How big is the opening on the chicken coop prior to installation.

Mine was about 12 inches high and 11 wide.

We don't have our chickens anymore unfortunately but it was still working good.
