On human scale, most people don't even remember most things they did or knew 20 to 30 years ago, now imagine that on a thousand year timescale. He was showing Mark the truth he needed to face, his mother, girlfriend, friends relatives will die in front of him before he even look 30, and he's feelings for humanity will eventually dissappear, omni man was just showing that to him. Making him understand.

Omni Man was a monster. He was born into a race who conquered planets and destroyed anyone who got in the way. Emotions such as love and compassion were seen as useless and pointless things to have, but seeing his son bloodied and beaten by his own hands and hearing mark saying he'll still have him after everything is destroyed and gone humbled and broke his heart immensely. I think the speech he was giving mark was making him angry because he wasn't saying it just to mark, but felt more like an outward monologue and saying it in anger because what will he have after 500 years after all is gone. Such a a powerful scene
