The ones you're looking at are awesome we use them in robotics, look at frc it's first robotics competition. Mecanum wheels allow side to side travel or forwards. Omni wheels allow movement/travel in any angle. Not just in one direction at a time. Mecanum wheels have some traction but Omni wheels have essentially none, it's like wheels on ice

These are called meccanum wheels. They are used in robotics namely FTC they allow a bot to move side to and diagonal. Omni wheels are rollers parrel to the wheel that are used for turning or X-drive and kiwi drives. As a robotics kid who skates I probably came up with this idea the second I saw omni and mecanum wheels.

When Gabe said the popcorn is the first trick everyone learns he's really not far off with that assumption, it helped me and so many skaters I know get comfortable with the board flipping under our feet, old school kickflips were the next underrated stepping stone!

I am on a robotics team so I have dealt with mecanum wheels before. Mecanum wheels are typically used on a chassis with one motor per wheel. They allow a robot to move in more than one direction, as if the motors spin wheels in different ways, it allows the chassis to move sideways or diagonally depending on the amount that each wheel is turning. The way that Gabe was moving the board sideways at the beginning would usually be done by 4 motors spinning the wheels so that the chassis would move in that direction. Usually the wheels move the device instead of the device causing the wheels to move so that may have been why they broke when used on the board. Hopefully this was helpful.

The wheels are mainly use for robots (well where I say them in the first time and used them), with the wheel you have wayyyyy more control of the robot mouvement.

by the way, you should by those metal ones. There are mecanum wheels out there which are rated for more than 100kg (200lbs).
