Leighton got the new Omnipod 5 system last week so we wanted to make a video of opening it up and getting started on the new system. The really cool thing about this new system is that it will automatically give insulin when her blood sugar is high and she does not already have enough insulin to cover that high. It will also slow down basal delivery if her BG is trending down to help prevent lows. The pod does this by connecting to her Dexcom G6 and using the blood sugar readings from that every 5 minutes.
The video is a little long and we skipped over some parts since some of the initial setup is a little time consuming.
We hope everyone else who is trying to get on the new Omnipod gets theirs soon if they have not already. We have been using the new system for about 4 days now and it has made a huge difference, especially at night time.
