I want a sign that lights up "HOT" when a surface/bath/whatever is over a threshold temperature. I believe this is a marketable product idea. Background/details: In our small electronics firm, we have open vats of molten solder sometimes. The problem with a traditional warning sign is that people get complacent when the bath is cold most of the time. Requiring a human operator to put up the sign when in use is frought with human error, and also sometimes the device is cold before the sign is removed. This isn't a big deal in a small shop, but more people equals more potential for injury. The same system would be appropriate for today's glass-top stoves (for example) where you *maybe* get a tiny LED Indicator on the console. How many times have we put a plastic bowl on that "temporary extra counter space" only to end in disaster? It would be trivial to install a thermocouple under the glass to let the user know there's a hazard present. I can think of a million more applications (hyperbole -- do not hold me to this [winky face]) for this technology. It's not enough to know that power is flowing into the heater... the clear and present danger should be indicated in BOLD and BRIGHT unmistakable text+icon visuals (auditory for vision impaired? ... maybe version 2 initiative). False negatives (it's cold but still says "hot") is just as bad as no warning at all. Anyways this is something I've been looking for for years, and not willing to spend $1000+ for each station. I think this would be a viable Kickstarter business idea. Cheers and beers. -jB
