Kristin Yarris, PhD, MPH, MA, is an Associate Professor, Global Studies and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies. She earned an MA in Latin American Studies and Anthropology, an MPH in Community Health Sciences, and a PhD in Sociocultural Anthropology, all from UCLA.

Yarris is an engaged anthropologist with a professional background in public health and community mental health whose research and teaching lies in two primary areas: transnational migration and global mental health.
Her ongoing projects include engaged anthropological research with Oregon immigrant rights organizations, which has been supported by a grant from the UO Center for Latino/a and Latin American Studies and is tied to her involvement with the Anthropologists Action Network for Immigrants and Refugees.
