Ever wondered what it's like to be on the front lines of public health during a pandemic? Join Kristin Yarris, PhD, MPH, MA, an anthropologist, volunteer health worker, and collaborator with Oregon's Lane County Public Health, as she takes you on a journey through her experiences.
In this video, you'll hear:
• Real stories from COVID testing and vaccination clinics: Discover the challenges and triumphs of serving Spanish-speaking communities during the pandemic, based on Dr. Yarris's rapid survey research.
• Insights for a more equitable future: Learn how community-based organizations can play a crucial role in shaping public health responses that focus on everyone, not just the privileged few.
• Reflections on navigating multiple roles: Dr. Yarris shares her personal journey, exploring the tensions and rewards of being an engaged researcher, volunteer, and collaborator all at once.
This is more than just a talk - it's a call to action. Whether you're a public health professional, a community advocate, or simply someone who wants to make a difference, this video will inspire you to think critically about how we can create a more just and healthy world for all.
So, hit that play button and get ready to be informed, challenged, and empowered!
