Yes even into 1990 Dionne could still sound fantastic on a good night. I think this Spanish concert is one of my favorites of all of her concerts that are available on KZfaq. DeeDee, Myrna and Felicia sound fantastic too. Nothing can replace the warm, plush, rounded feeling that happens whenever Dee Dee is part of the backing.

I heard Ms Warwick say in an interview that they (she and producer Arif Mardin) presented Clive Davis with a finished product which they thought would have that ideal, smoky jazz club kind of feel. He didn't want that and had them redo the album. I think "Easy to Love" was one the 'casualties' of this decision. Hopefully, the masters will make their way to the public ear. One track from those 'cancelled' sessions made it to the CD version of the Cole Porter album, namely "Just One of Things".

@@louenkleinsmidt Thank you for that information. I recently read online on Wikipedia about the complete re-recording of the Dionne Warwick Cole Porter album. The version that was released in 1990 was promoted on television on both "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson" on NBC-TV and on the syndicated "Arsenio Hall Show". I had watched the "Tonight Show" as it aired that episode and Dionne Warwick was not well that night. Johnny Carson had mentioned that she had a back problem and that she was going to go for x-rays after the show. In obvious pain, wincing at times as she sang, Dionne performed 3 songs in a row. They were "Night And Day", "It's All Right With Me", and " Easy To Love". That was on July 19, 1990. The album had been released more than a month before that. So, it is a mystery to me about that. The song, "Night And Day", had two versions on the released album. The first song on the album was a standard rendition. The last song on the album was a jazz rendition. I had the audio cassette version and "Just One Of Those Things" had been included. I have since gotten a used compact disc version and that has the same song selection as the audio cassette has. Neither has "Easy To Love", despite it having been sung on television. Hopefully, the entire original album will be released.

That song was done in concerts and at least one American television appearance, "The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson", but not on any released form of the Cole Porter album.

I've heard this one was in the original album they (Dionne and Arif Mardin) presented to Clive Davis, but he wanted another kind of sound - which was finally released (almost a complete album redo). I do hope the original album resurfaces somehow.
