ON MY WAY is directed by Sonam Larcin and published with the permission of the filmmakers. The film screened at film festivals including Palm Springs ShortFest, Atlanta Film Festival and received High Commendation at Iris PrizeCardiff.

DIRECTOR'S BIO: Sonam Larcin is a Belgian teacher and director. In 2017, he directed the short fiction Tristan, shortlisted for the BAFTA Student Awards, in 2018 a short documentary After the silence, qualified for the Academy Awards, and in 2020, the short fiction On My Way.

One man HAD to leave everything or face imprisonment, and the other in a prison of secrecy and deceit. Even where openess is not punishable, it still take a lot of bravery to be who you are. This was a great piece of work.

How moving film. The solidarity Niels shares with a complete stranger, simply touching. If I may quote an American philosopher, Richard Rorty: "Solidarity is something that does not come with us, humans, it develops, it creates..." and Niels exemplifies so perfectly this with Dayo. A simply moving and brilliant movie.

This story was wonderfully told. Giving us the struggle of what we still face is countries that support LGBTQ and the heartbreaking story of a man who must flee or lose his freedom. Well done 👏

I love how real, poignant, vulnerable and yet still hopeful and “unfinished” this story is presented. Well Done to its cast and crew, to its script writer and director, and to its backers! It reminded me of Mr Sammler’s Planet.

What’s so sad and fucked up about this story is it’s so common. Religious & social stigma has so vilified something so natural as love that innocent people wind up getting hurt & sometimes ending their lives unable to live their truth. I love that the young man in this story didn’t dwell and go through the, “Why Me’s” and just saw the end and moved on. Great film

WOW! This story was so beautiful and heartbreaking the emotion between the 2 lovers just leaped off the screen. These actors were incredible. I absolutely adore these short films but like someone else said in the comments I want more of this story. Thank goodness for YT cause I don't think many people like myself would even see all this amazing talent otherwise. Great job to all those involved!😉👏👏

Beautiful film ..poignant and the juxtaposition between the lives of two characters was heartbreaking. It's not easy even if there is freedom as life is complex yet simple in many ways.

Beautiful cinematography and great acting. A great setting for a great story, but I'm not fond of the open end. As a Dutchman, I was pleasantly surprised to hear Dutch. Niels is an incredibly handsome man. I loved that he easily switched between Dutch, French, and English. I want to see more of Niels. The actor's name is Tijmen Govaerts.

Great story. Niels such a compassionate individual. Very giving and heartfelt with how he helped a total stranger (Dayo) fleeing his own turmoil. In the end Niels must've known the risks of having an affair with a married man. I applaud how he absorbed it (obviously very painfully) at its conclusion. Fantastic short!

Yeah it really was just about to cry even Just remembering this Film because they are all in really controvers hard Situations and more or less try to Go through IT IS gorgious, amazing Totally beautiful and unfortunately true. That all makes IT so touching and so sad. This Film really Made me cry in Way Philadelphia did in late '90s. You couldn't have Done it better. It IS perfect, Dear! Blessings to you ❤️

A few years ago at Brighton Pride they played a video on the big screens. It was "Someday" (there's a place for us) with visuals telling us how far the UK had come with equality and how many countries around the world still persecuted LGBTQ+ people. Rather than focusing on campaigning to get worldwide equality we have gone to the extremes of accepting people can be cats, it's OK to stop a child going through puberty and how I'm now likely to cancelled for not referring to someone as Ze/Zie and Zir! Anyway, rant over. Loved this short, I just wish it wasn't an accurate reflection of what people are experiencing in real life.

The name "Dayo", might have been originated from Sanskrit or Austronesian ancient language. In the Filipino Tagalog language, the name translates to "Immigrant".

Moi je trouve l histoire très bien . Ça montre que le mec n assume pas qu’il sois gay . Il est marié. Combien de gay ce cache pour ne pas être pointé du doigt. Et ce qui se montre qu ils sont gay son juge. Je préfère qu il se protège des gens méchant. A tous les gay ❤❤❤❤💋🌹
