It was a thrilling experience to explore wildlife inside Bandipur tiger reserve forest. We had to take tickets form the new ticket counter opened for Safari at Bandipur few months back before Bandipur jungle lodges and resorts hotel near Khan's gufa restaurant.
We have also visited Asia's oldest elephant camp at Theppakadu inside Mudumalai tiger reserve forest. Here the famous elephants Raghu and Ammu stays, yes, they are the same elephant shown in the 2023 Oscar wining documentary movie The Elephant whisperer.
To visit this elephant camp you have to take a ticket which cost around 25 rupees.
Since we are staying in Masinagudi log house which is a government accommodation of Mudumalai tiger reserve forest, it’s free for us.
This elephant camp was established in 1972 in Mudumalai Range. It has 28 elephants including 2 calves at present. In this elephant camp elephants are mainly used for Forest Mansoon patrolling, eco-tourism, elephant conservation, Education etc.
This place become more famous post PM Modi visits to Bandipur & Mudumalai reserves.

Hi Kabini is always best as it’s in the middle of Bandipur, Nagarhole and Wayanad forest

However our luck was always better in Bandipur safari.. if you are going to Bandipur try to book stay in Bandipur forest rest house .. there is a resident leopard 🐆 present..you might get to see that multiple times

Safari timing is fixed .. You can wear any clothes but try to avoid loud colours

Both the safari has equal chance .. During morning safari first half of safari has more chance before sun comes up.. During afternoon safari post the sun gone down has most of the chance for animals sighting
