Today me and Aidan decided to break out of solitary confinement and go to our old Carnelian Agate stomping grounds. Petrified wood and Jasper included! Watch the video and get a vital tip on finding these beauties. PLEASE NOTE; because it was brought to my attention via the comment section (which must have been deleted by the person making the comment) that the area we are collecting on is NOT owned by Weyerhaeuser, but a different owner that does allow agate hunting and other uses in accordance with the posted signs. I checked. They said the only time a person is not allowed on their timberland is if there’s been a recent fire.

I've been struggling with my carnelian search. Looking for that deeper red look. When you started with those lighter shades, I realized I have found some, just lighter. Thanks! ok, your wing man has won me over, I'm subscribing today. Rock on. boys!

It's an honest thing people often miss. Carnelian should be thought of as toasted quartz. Sitting in the sun for eons is why it's the color it is. The sun colored it. Once it was just a regular clear or opaque quartz. You can artificially color quartz with heat such as in a kiln and higher and higher temperature with duration can produce specific colors such as 600 degrees Fahrenheit would produce a yellow quartz "citrine" and at 800 degrees you'd get amethyst or purple

This is my first time watching you all, but I am thrilled that you are taking your son along and teaching him how to find beautiful stones! What our country needs more than anything these days is strong fathers! So I'm delighted to see this. I've never seen carnelian that red before! Gorgeous! Too bad I don't live anywhere near you guys, picking carnelian up off a roadway? Even an old lady like me could do that! That creek was lovely! And yes, I subscribed! Hugs from Virginia!

The amount of stuff I've found wld blow your mind - gold rings, jewellery, purses, certain powders in cellophane bags...ahem ahem, I even found an Iridium Satellite Phone in it's case once (handed that in to the cops); it's just amazing the stuff that's just lying around waiting to be found - like a life long Easter egg hunt!

I grew up as a river rat on the puyallup/carbon. Then later the Stillaguamish. This is almost exactly the same relationship I had with my mother. Despite the resentment I still harbor towards her, the rock hunting, plant identification, berry picking, river walking, trail blazing, etc. has helped me to see things differently, more realistically, and I'm more appreciative of that every day. Aiden is a smart cookie and I hope he knows that. Take care🙂

I found my first carneliean a couple weeks ago, I live in northwest Oregon, and I was so stoked, it took me over 7 hours of searching a local creek, obviously not a lot of agates in my area, but I discovered there are some! I know lower in the willamette valley there are 20x more than up here, but im happy I found a nice one! We have weyerhaeuser timberland all over down here too! They have a lot of trees.
