Just a few more random tractor-related clips I had floating around on my hard drive from the last two years (ever since I moved out to Pennsylvania).
Timestamp:
0:00 - testing the hydraulic functions of the 54" Haban heavy-duty snow blade on the Cub Cadet 2072 shortly after I bought the machine, and before I sold the blade.
1:14 - a friend of mine and a fellow South Jersey garden tractor collector, scratching up the lower spots of our local pulling track to get ready for garden tractor pulls. He is on an Allis Chalmers B112, one of about 20 in his collection.
1:46 - looking over an '86 JD 316 with 46" deck and Powerflow bagger that I passed on the side of the road two years ago, before I bought my '87 316 to mow the lawn with. This unit was pretty rough, with a 20-foot paint job, a B43E Onan engine that had a lot of valve train noise and ran on 1 cylinder most of the time, and just overall very worn and torn. I'm glad I passed on this one, and I feel bad for whoever ended up buying it.
4:54 - a garden tractor I wouldn't mind owning if I had more space: a one-owner '88 JD 420 with 60" deck that was traded in at the dealer where I work, toward a lightly-used X730 that we had sitting on the lot. Unlike the 316, this 420 was a nice tight tractor overall with a newly-rebuilt Onan P220G engine and a quiet 60" deck. It would have been nice to own if I had a justifiable need for it - I think the 2072 will be enough for now.
7:12 - my neighbor's pristine all-original 1991 Wheel Horse 416-H that he purchased brand new from the dealership that used to be 1/4-mile down the street from us. He mowed his lawn and plowed our shared driveway with it every year, and always kept up on the maintenance. It never left the block until just today (10/20/23 as of me writing this), when he sold the tractor and replaced it with an equally-nice Wheel Horse 520H.
8:07 - a pair of Perkins V8-powered Massey Ferguson tractors (1150 and 1155) that showed up at the local auction yard for a recent sale. I was checking them over for a Massey collector friend of mine. These V8 Massey tractors are becoming more and more collectable and it seems like they are getting harder to find with a good-running (and properly-maintained) V8 engine in them. V8-powered farm tractors are a thing of the past, but always make for a good conversation piece (and sound good too).
10:50 - a short walkaround and drive of the ole' trusty Ford 340A loader tractor now that I have it listed for sale. I am hoping to replace it (and my JD 330 garden tractor) with a JD 755 or 855 that I can use for mowing and for loader work - the 340A has been an excellent tractor but it's just time for something smaller. If anyone might be interested in buying (or trading), please let me know!
