As a runner and a Swiss citizen I could only dream for Dominic Lobalu to be able to compete for Switzerland. The country would be enriched by a citizen of exceptional talent. His trainer, Marcus Hagmann, is an example of a more humane Switzerland, and he too is a source of inspiration.

Yesterday I saw Dominic in Diamond League 5k race in Oslo competing for Switzerland, finally. I´m literally crying... He improved his personal best and made the new national record. I really wish he qualifies for Olympcs. Fan from Czech Republic :)

I came across your video last night while repairing a give away bike. I am overwhelmed with the whole story. His deep gratitude and the rays of love he felt must have warmed him up on those cold days. Five minutes after watching this video, I pulled up the Olympic 5000m to see if he was there. This was the 4th time I’ve watched it and the best one, because I knew the back story of an amazing young man. Dominic Lobalu, I send you positive vibes across the universe in your direction.

You are the hero, man ! Love it . Below is the news I just googled. FYI. New athlete invited to join the IOC Refugee Olympic Team Paris 2024. The EB decided to extend an invitation to Dominic Lobalu (athletics) to join and be a full member of the IOC Refugee Olympic Team Paris 2024.Considering that Lobalu has a refugee status in Switzerland, verified by the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR), and has recently achieved the World Athletics standard for participation in the Olympic Games (5,000m), he is fully eligible to be included in the IOC Refugee Olympic Team with immediate effect.

I was watching the London track meet today and they mentioned this documentary. I immediately paused the track meet to watch this doc. I am now a fan!! I will be cheering and praying his success at the 2024 Olympics!

I've really appreciated this story of Dominic Lokinyomo Lobalu and the risk that he has assumed from leaving his natal country (South Sudan) until to left the ART( Athlete Refugee Team ), he was at the limit of wasting all but fortunately as himself said, he was born to suffer even to be punished before reaching the success. He met Markus Hagmann, an man with a great heart that opened the doors to his home and his country (Switzerland). Markus became not only the Dominic's coach, the friend, the father, the guide to lead to the right way. I look forward to seeing Lobalu at World Athletic Championship 2023 in Budapest and after that at the Olympic Games 2024 in Paris. My best wish to Lobalu and all the team that support him.

Wow, it's wild how many of us kill ourselves training to get a scholarship to college and then you have people like this killing themselves to compete at a high level just to support their families. It really makes me thankful for what i have and how lucky we are that we could give up running and live a normal life, whereas that wouldn't be possible for him and his family.

If he's a Swiss citizen(?), It's weird that he can't just run for Switzerland! There are plenty of Kenyans and Ethiopians running for Qatar and Israel!
