Good for you Megan. I was addicted to heroin and lived on the streets in kensington too. I called my mom on december 19th, the day after my 30th birthday, after being robbed and raped on the train tracks behind the sunoco off allegheny, and i went into my 14th treatment center and somehow by the grace of GOD, i have been clean and sober since. Its been 6 years and 11 months. I will celebrate 7 years on december 19th this month. My birthday is the 18th, but my true birthdate is the 19th. So many people will judge these people, but only a few know what its really like and how easy it can happen to anyone.

The best things your city council should pass to clean their cities are: 1. Ordinances banning loitering 2. Ordinances on Curfew of minors 3. Putting all drug addicts on rehab centers...so simple yet effective ordinances...

Drug n alcohol is a blanket to Underlying health issues... It hit Home to me whenever a psychiatrist KNEW issues n my Life, Never told ANYONE about it but He Knew non chalantly Based off how I responded to the meds so early. Most people are like myself who are/were "alcoholic" have a Mental Blockade due to trauma..Basically get a psychic evaluation n Meds like Me it HELPS honestly..

Hi Megan, remember you are only a recovering addict....."relapse" is around the corner. The only advise ( even you did not asked for ) is to get yourself out/avoid/away from this type of area for at least 2 yrs. You are actually standing / walking infront of a lion's den... My addiction had me living in hell everyday. I chose to go through hell with withdrawals to get out of hell. I fricking love life now.

Finally I came across a video of a ex drug addict who has turn her life around for the better and now going back to the place where it nearly took her life and helping those people she once walked with .God bless you Megan . These people have really made this choice to live this life style! I have know people that truly love.....love their addiction they wouldn't trade it for anything in this world! Sad to say but it's so true! My heart truly goes out to all family members that have lost love ones to this type of life style. Dying to get high.
