I imagine you have to have pretty good eyesight to run a crane like that.

I could never be a crane operator...I’m afraid of heights! Hated going on the ships! However, I would have loved operating trans-tainers or side picks though! Best job I ever had...but I let it slip away😔😔😔!

cork dude no. Once the beam is landed on the container we get a light telling us the beam is all the way down. Then we hit a switch that locks it.

1:22 will the water remain on the ship or can it escape from the cargo hold?
@davearu384 жыл бұрын
they need to be pumped out or into bilge holding tanks, the bilge alarm will eventually sound, we never like it when it rains during cargo ops :) prior to pumping out, we always need to do a visual check to confirm it is only water and the source is the rain.

Is any one here a gantry cran driver? Can I ask about the loading rule to maintain the balance of the ship during operation? Do we have to always load 1. from sea side of the ship to shore side of the ship? 2. Or load from both side to the middle of the ship? Is there any thing that causes difficulties for the crane driver in the (2) operation.
@PumaPete5 жыл бұрын
Thanh Vu we usually load and discharge inshore to offshore unless there is a ballast issue or the ship is really small. If there is a list that for some reason they can’t correct with ballast tanks then we will spread the load out.
