Wow, now that's what I call great news :-D I was drooling over the vintage version but never pulled the trigger. I love Magnum P.I. and used to watch it as a kid. I got to have one of those Sea Quartz 30!!! Btw. the iconic case was made by Monnin and was also supplied to other brands such as Heuer. CWC still uses a form of it (not sure if it's still made by Monnin) for their diver watches. I already own a current version of the CWC SBS Diver which was created for the Royal Marines and is issued by the MOD since 1987. So I think the CWC and the Sea Quartz 30 are probably the coolest Quartz Divers from the 80s. Great Video! Thanks for sharing the news.

i have the ronda 507 hi torque movement in my marathon navigator, a true mil issue watch. i love the way this movement clicks with a soft yet strong certainty, and is one of the best at staying consistent on hitting the markers well. other than that, i never knew anything of this watch, or whether it was a current offering, just seeing this video come up on my feed. excellent review and i'm really considering getting one. just switched over from 30 years of restoring vintage military watches from all eras as a second job, but have soured on mechanical movements after having been a mechanical snob all that time. the cost of ongoing servicing of even lower end pieces, is not sustainable if you have any sort of collection. plus the constant resetting. i've developed a new appreciation of quartz, and this fits right on in.

One of my more vivid memories from childhood is sitting in front of a Sony Trinitron in 1980 and watching the title sequence of Magnum, as that beautiful Italian racing red 308 GTB rolled along an equally stunning Hawaiian coastal highway. This watch has always been a sort of grail for me, as I've priced the Chronosport model over the years , but the asking prices were always downright absurd (I think there's an eBay listing for around $6k at present). It's great that Momentum has reissued this, as it was long overdue, at least for those of us who grew up in the 80s. I spoke with a rep at Momentum who said there will be subsequent runs of this piece, as well as a solar version sometime in the near future. The next production run is scheduled to drop in July, and in the meantime, I've ordered a pair of Puma OG Easy Riders and an Island Hoppers t-shirt---but I'm gonna have to pass on the plum smuggler shorts.....

I got in on the preorder for the next run of these a few weeks ago. I think they deliver in May. Looking forward to it. Thanks for the vid!

Seems a couple others have pointed out the small gap between the lugs and the strap edges, makes me wonder if the lugs are really closer to 21mm than 20. I wonder also if the pins in the strap firmly fit in the mounting points. I've found that with virtually all quick-release straps like this, the pin-ends are pretty wimpy on diameter and on my Citizens and Seikos, they move around a bit in the holes...which doesn't inspire confidence. Finally, I don't see mention of this in any other comment or the video, but the orange minutes hand seems to have either debris on it or uneven application of the paint. The next pre-order begins in about an hour and a half, and I've been looking at some videos to get a better feel for this watch. I am a HUGE Magnum, P.I. fan and am thrilled the opportunity exists to get a nearly perfect and updated copy of the original SQ30 for a reasonable price. That said, ill-fitting straps and imperfect finishing don't thrill me and may persuade me to let the pre-order window today come and go if I don't see some better-representing material on YT.

Ordered one on the metal bracelet and can't wait to wear it this summer - will put it on an nice tropic though but it's always good to go for the bracelet. Shipping 78 Euro is a little bit extreme, second hand will not hit all markers but f... it ... what an icon. Magnum P.I. is and will always be my favorite show. So a no brainer.

I think an olive green dial would be awesome. It is also very military.

i got one of the last watches from the january run! they turned off the order button while i was still checking out. lol. it's a really nice watch! my only complaint is the strap... but i think i only have one watch that came with the original strap/bracelet. i got a silicone strap with curved ends for it and i think it looks a bit better than w/ the gaps between the lugs.

Swiss quartz watches never seen to hit the markers , I’ve owned 4 in the past and everyone was off, bought a citizen eco drive a few years ago and it never misses the markers absolutely flawless,

I got mine in Feb as part of the first batch of them. At the introductory pre-order price of under $200, I did not hesitate I hit the buy button super quickly. I have worn mine a lot. The watch is great and the only issue I can see is that the strap that came with it looks to be a mm shorter then 20mm as it shows the spring bar, which is sad as it is a comfy strap otherwise. I ended up ordering the optional bracelet that they started selling about a few weeks ago and it came with the second Sea Quartz that I bought for a gift for somebody. I think this watch will be the big bargain of 2023

excellent review with the closeups and staying on the dial to show how the quartz movement hits the markers. also you graciously showed the back well enough to do a freeze frame and see it has the ronda swiss 507 high torque movement, which is great and used for dive watches because it can handle the weighier diver hands. thanks...i'll be ordering one on the preorder this morning.

I wanted to order one in the first batch, but the shipping was more than 80$. With the tax and import costs to the EU it would cost almost double the stated price of the watch, which is a shame. It is a really cool watch, but not "double the price" cool.

The bezel action on the one I looked at is crappy. It's obvious that yours is also lousy. Why don't you come out and say so? Did you actually buy yours or was it given to you as with other youtubers and bloggers? I would think your viewers expect honest and impartial reviews.
