A local man took matters into his own hands when his carryon bag went missing at New Orleans Airport. He got security video of the gate where he left it, and what he saw caught on camera was shocking. On Your Side's Kristine Lazar has the footage, and the airline's reaction.

Apparently they were upset with him because they said he would have to reschedule his flight because of the size of his carry-on was too big and non-compliant. He asked to see a supervisor as he felt is carry-on was compliant. The supervisor agreed that it was, so he went on with it, but unfortunately forgot his smaller carry-on at the counter. It appears that the gate agents wanted to take vengeance upon him because he dared to challenge their determination even though the supervisor agreed that his larger carry-on was compliant and they were wrong. Not only did they throw his things away, they apparently stole some of them. Just completely unbelievable. I believe they should be charged with theft and fired. My husband accidentally lost a loved leather jacket at an airport (local to us). He thought maybe someone had lifted it from him. It was leather and an fairly nice jacket. He called Allegiant and explained what happened and what he suspected. The person gave him another number to call and voice his concerns. Well, the person they connected him to was a VP of Allegiant. And he was at a family dinner. Guess what? The guy listened to him, said they'd make it right, pulled the video and the jacket had not been lifted, it had been found quickly by an employee and I was able to go down to the office (not lost and found) and pick it up directly a few days later.

Not only did they commit a criminal act, they 100% breached airport protocols. Any unattended back must be reported to airport police. Airport police will then check the cameras to see if they can attach the bag to a person. After that, airport police will also go through the bag to determine if there is anything unsafe in there. Once the bag has been cleared, it is usually delivered to airport lost and found. Even my YMCA does this. The airlines would rather hire the people willing to work for unlivable wages than pay a fair rate for employees with honor. The customer needs to explain what the issue is, in detail. Have the customer repeat the issue, at least 23 times to different employees. Just remember to have them start over, from the very beginning. Each and every time. And if they complain, you're trying to resolve this extremely important issue. Just remember to speak calmly. And give extremely lengthy explanations. Including a complete history lesson as to when the company was founded. Who the vice president is. And don't forget to start reading company policies and procedures from the employee's handbook. To the other employees, In front of the customer.

I don't think the airlines have control over airport security videos. Who knows, they could be involving top brass and leaning on airport security in a case that could be more damaging to them, but in such small case, I doubt it.
@le_th_

It was the airport, not the actual airline. The airport does NOT want conscienceless, remorseless, criminal people working there because they are a danger to the entire airport. Think of what they put you through just to get to your flight. Now, do you think they pay all that money for security (salary, benefits, vacations, 401K, machines, maintenance on those machines, buying new tech when it comes out), all to have people like this getting behind the lines??? These are exactly the kind of people who terrorists can pay off. No airport wants people like that to have access to their facility. That's kind of their worst nightmare having employees this morally bankrupt.

Hold the company and people accountable! Include the name of the third party vendor, the names of the employees, close ups of their faces, their linked and facebook profile data if its publicly available so these POS thieves are outed and hopefully unemployable for anything other than scrubbing toilets for the rest of their lives. These awful people are criminals; they clearly seem entitled to do this but they should be arrested and given prison time for their crimes.

The workers were suspended? A free flight as compensation? No problem. This is not acceptable. They clearly stole the man’s items and made it look like they even bragged about it on social media. Suggesting they were not doing it for the first time. The airlines should be begging for forgiveness by offering to give the man as many first class free flights as he might like to have for at least this year. In exchange for not getting busy with a lawyer and really getting payback.
