Beastars deserves best OP, and I feel robbed.

I'm not even sure if I'd label Askelaad an antagonist at all, at least not by the end of season 1. At the beginning of the series he's absolutely an antagonist but as the season went on you learn more and more about him and his motivations the line between protag and antag gets really blurry. You could write a college paper on how complex and awesome of a character Askelaad is.

I feel like Made in Abyss got over the hurdle of being on Amazon due to a lot of anitubers talking about it and bringing attention to it, so people either bit the bullet and signed up for a month so they could legally stream, or went and found it somewhere else. Personally, I was sold on the premise alone because it is exactly the kind of fantasy adventure that makes Castle in the Sky one of my fave anime films, but since I don't look at MAL to see what's coming out each season, and I had to recently cut Crunchyroll out of my monthly expenses, anitubers are usually my first exposure to new shows.

I know if it becomes the Demon Slayer 2019 awards, people will be extremely butthurt, but in my opinion it 100% deserves the best score award if it gets it. The score is gorgeous.

Everyone has there own way of voting and that's completely fair even if a vast majority just vote for their favorite shows regardless of any other reason. For me, I always try and look at the essence of each award and go with the nominee that I saw that best exemplified that essence. For an example of how my logic works, this is how I looked at best fight scene. To me, the essence of a great fight scene is the combination/balence of great action/animation, fluidity of strategy (basically is there a reason the fight progresses the way it does), narrative weight/stakes, emotional investment, fight choreography, and most importantly a powerful reason that drives the combatants to fight in the first place. For the nominees in this category; Emperor Crimson vs Metallic is not really as much a fight as it is a battle of wits, Levi vs the Beast Titan is too much of a one sided slaughter to really be considered a great fight, Mob vs Toichiro is a lot of flash but actually lacks in choreography and animation when compared to Mob vs Mogata in the same series, Tanjiro and Nezuko vs Rui while strikingly beautiful is undone by its unsatisfactory ending that undercuts Tanjiro's character growth and the fact that Tanjiro's Dance of the Fire God and Nezuko's blood demon powers kind of just manifest out of no where because the narrative said they needed to, and Ushiwakamaru vs Tiamat while also a great spectacle kind of just revolves around Ushi dodging a bunch while cutting up snake tentacles until she finally unleashes her Noble Phantasm so it also lacks in strategic flow. Thorfinn vs Thorkell is the only one of these fights that actually succeeds in all the elements I feel make up a great fight. The action and animation is really good if not quite as flashy as the super powered fights, the strategy Thorfinn uses against Thorkell is well thought out and based on his previous experience with him, the fight has narrative weight in that Thorfinn must win to protect Askeladd and we are emotionally invested in his reason for protecting Askeladd, the fight choreography does a great job of conveying Thorfinn's speed and Thorkell's power, and finally we understand why each side is fighting (Thorfinn to protect Askeladd and Thorkell for the sheer thrill of battling a worthy opponent).

That demon slayer fight scene has to win. That alone is even worthy of an Oscar. The animation, the story and the music incorporated into the whole thing work seamlessly. The creator cried watching that episode. Many of us did too.

I think the problem is that the judges don’t communicate. A lot of great anime was left out because some of the judges might not have seen it and I think that problem could be resolved if they all decided together.

May I ask how No guns life didn't get at least nominated in "Character design"? I see cute anime girls with colorful hair every season and year. But what I don't see every year is a man *WITH A GUN FOR A HEAD* also sad that Black clover didn't get nominated
