Loved every second of it... but I grew up in L.A. and also watched a lot of old tv shows and I love Sergio Corbucci movies so... I think one's enjoyment of the first 3/4 of the movie is greatly helped by how many of the references and vibes one can relate too because it does lack a plot. (For instance, my mom *really* loved it because she was 20 years old in 1969.) As for the last 1/4... well you'd have to be dead to not have a reaction to it. For me, it was one of the most satisfying endings I've seen in a long time, and the very last shot I found to be much more poignant than QT might get credit for. Oh and the movie is hilarious and Leo and Brad deliver some of their finest performances to date. And if you need more lines from Margot, well then go watch I, Tonya or something. And also ask yourself, "If it's not a problem for Margot Robbie, then why is it a problem for me?" STOP SPEAKING FOR OTHER PEOPLE!!!!!

A lot of young teenagers and young adults that I spoke with didn’t understand the movie. They didn’t grow up knowing about the Manson murders, Sharon Tate, nor the trajectory and homage given toward the Western film era, so they said it didn’t make any sense to them, nor how it was pieced together. I found so many "mistakes" in the film regarding the 1969 time period. Ann-Margret's film "CC & Company" is shown in a scene where Sharon Tate (Margot Robbie) goes into a theatre in Westwood (Los Angeles) to watch her own film, "The Wrecking Crew", with an audience. As Sharon sits down, you see & hear Ann-Margret on the screen with Joe Namath. The premiere date for "CC & Company" was October 14, 1970, in New York City. The actual filming of "CC & Company" did not begin until April 13, 1970. However, the time period in "Once Upon A Time In Hollywood" was from February, 1969 through August 9, 1969... it's even stated on the screen. However, this was more than a year before the film was actually released to the public. I know... being picky. The film "Tora! Tora! Tora!" is shown on a movie studio wall, however, the film did not premiere until September 23, 1970. Raquel Welch's name is misspelled on a drive-in movie marquee. The Playboy mansion did not exist until Hugh Hefner purchased it... in 1974! Sharon Tate is shown advertising a Pan Am 747... the plane was not flown commercially until January, 1970. The list goes on and on. Do you think Quentin did this on purpose? Or did the company he & his team hired to supply the 1969 material & video clips make a HUGE mistake?

I am so looking forward to seeing this and at a theatre...especially after reading that horseshit review in the NYT where the critic had the paucity of character to suggest Tarantino is remiss for not exploring the leftist political agenda, hell ANY agenda but his own, like an artist should. He doesn't explore the cultural and political currents of the '60s? So what? He's exploring themes that interest him. And I'm sure those DO interest him, but he has chosen to tell a story of his choosing within the limited timeframe a movie affords and one must have focus of theme to do that. What the hell is wrong with the world?

It really wasn't boring in my opinion. It's meant to be a laid back comedy, and movies don't have to have a tense conflict to hold the plot together. It's mean to show you what a day in the life of a 1960s Hollywood star was like.

Ryan Haymer I disagree strongly. Just my honest opinion. But I can understand that you have yours too. He understands vintage cool only the way a straight male would. He likes 1960s Hollywood like the good the bad and the ugly, even vintage Star Trek, he likes bad ass yet super cool fight scenes, that only a mans man would understand yet holding his art that he is only collecting from others throughout his life, then weaving it into every scene of his films. He likes feminine provocative and masculine stereotypes. Most guys like Tarantino. He gets us. Doesn’t mean he can’t be gay, but I would be very surprised if he actually was. That’s all.

Corky Stanton The movie lacked structure. The plot was lackluster. This didn’t feel like a Tarantino movie. Most of the scenes were them driving around, playing music, smoking cigarettes and looking pretty. There was so much buildup to the scene where Brad Pitts character wanted to meet George but they didn’t really want him to. I expected a huge payout but he literally meets George and nothing important happens then he leaves. So many awkward and unnecessary filler scenes like the one with the little girl reading the book in the chair. I watched in last night in the theater and people actually left before it ended.

@rifleshooterchannel2084 жыл бұрын
David Fernandes The characters were pretty flat and superficial to be honest. Really didn’t feel like there was much in the way of character building in the movie, and the fact that a random 10 minute block of narration halfway through the movie was needed to drive the story pretty much supports my assertion. Though I do like to believe that Brad Pitt’s character is a Aldo after the end of WW2. Figure he changed his name to something manly sounding and memorable and went into the stuntman business. But otherwise it was pretty lukewarm.
