That's quite pricy for an 8k printer nowadays. Like you can get Saturn 3 for the same price, and it's a 12k machine.

I think the metallic silver to gold trick was showcased by Eons of Battle when they painted up some Custodes - not a drop of gold was sued but they all turned out looking great. Great video! You've earned a sub from myself and I think DMG Minis will also be getting some of my support in the near future!

Cool video, thanks. Quick point on tightening the 4 bolts on the leveling plate. Bolts loosen, in an environment with vibrations, due to tiny lateral movments at intefaces in the bolted connection. Rather than banging the bolts as tight as you can get them, and risking stripping the treads, just take out the washers. This removes an interface in the bolted connection that supports vibartion loosening. The washers will be there to spread the load from under the bolt head across the hole the bolt goes through. I'd be surprised if they are needed.

Amazing videos as always. The wait between these is a bit long, but so worth it in the end. Thank you for keeping the production level so high!! About Creality printers, I have one that I haven't used in a while because it has a "factory problem", the LD 002H. The UV LED array needs a 24v input, but their PSU has a 27v output so _everything_ gets overexposed, no matter how low you set your layer time (I've been printing at 1s and some details don't show up). I've tried wiring a voltage resistance or something like that, but for some reason, it doesn't work when I set it to 24V... I left it in a room gathering dust and bought an Anycubic Mono 4k. PS: In spanish, beetle is "escarabajo" like you said "escaraba" but with a "ho" at the end like "horse".

If you tighten the bolts. Your ambient temperature must be the same all the time. If your printer heats up its enclosure by some degree you might need to re-adjust no matter how tight you make the screws. Happend to me when I was printing at ~15°C. While printing, the temperature in the enclsure reached above 20°C and I allways had to re-level.

Thanks for your comment, I haven't watched other reviewers videos about this printer yet so I'm not really sure what everyone is unhappy about. For me I'm hesitant to get super into the weeds on printers, as all I care about is how easy or hard does it make for me to get miniatures on the table. So for me I just want to highlight what works, what's easy, what's frustrating, and what's broken. This printer had some quirks for sure, but the workflow was pretty standard otherwise and it did what it was supposed to do without any major hurdles. For the price there's no way I'd be unhappy with the unit I received, it's a solid printer and I would happily send prints to this thing all day every day.

The Dynax printing mode sounds amazing. Reviews around KZfaq are a mixed bag though, some saying that it decreased print quality or led to failed supports. I guess it depends on the STL, but 1/5 the time sounds worth trying! I first heard about that gold painting method from Eons of Battle’s Custodes video. They use an orange ink over metallic silver.

After reading the feature set of the 3d printer, The splashing that's happening is due to pulling out the resin pump. Apparently it moderates the level of resin required for a print to prevent splashes when printing at high speeds. Still should be able to be accounted for when removing the pump but it's worth noting.
@NikkiAnnMarie
@NikkiAnnMarie 9 ай бұрын
Fundamentally, the splashing happens because the platform raises all the way to the top, rather than a small distance above the vat. This is because for some reason, they decided to put the home sensor at the top of the build plate rather than the bottom like every other manufacturer. I gave them this feedback on their first printer, and they never listened to it :(
@OnceinaSixSide
@OnceinaSixSide 9 ай бұрын
Interesting idea. For me the splash all over the door happened after my very first print where Dynax was turned off and the printer was incredibly slow at every step of the print with the exception of the lift speed at the very end, and because my print was a super short calibration part the whole build plate was still submerged below the resin line when the last layer finished. If you look closely at 0.35 too you can see those drips on the door start from waaaay up high which is not what you would expect from droplets falling and splashing in the vat. I should probably make a short or something recreating this
@NikkiAnnMarie
@NikkiAnnMarie 9 ай бұрын
@@OnceinaSixSide Your theory makes sense, but I don't think it's right because for people who do run their printers at very high speeds where the piece is constantly being removed from the resin/vat quickly, they don't really experience the same level of splashing I have the Halot One and the splashes are above the build plate, despite the printer having a slow lift speed after the print - I think it's because of how viscous/dense the resin is. The quick lift definitely doesn't help though, because the faster it lifts the more residual resin there is to drop off the plate and cause splashing

But I needed it for printing references in the machine shop and calligraphy plates for engraving on a pantograph. …I also wanted to cast components to make a pantograph. I know KZfaq’s algorithm wants creators to stay in their lane. But I don’t know if KZfaq considers yours a 3d printing channel or a miniatures channel. If it’s not in the cards it’s not in the cards. But I really like your video work and would very much appreciate some more technical projects.

Thank you for taking the time to create this content for our enjoyment. I enjoyed the review and you did a great job, interspersing the interview with DMG Minis and the product review. One nit, I was disappointed that you de-functioned a feature 04:27, as a consumer it helps to see all the features in action. I did like the comment about manufacturer apps, more often the UI for these apps is terrible and results in a crappy UX, don't let interns or Larry from the mail room make the app. Also why do we have to have endure advertising everywhere, I mean now we have ads playing at the petrol station's fuel pump, look for screens in the loo next. Thank you!
@OnceinaSixSide
@OnceinaSixSide 9 ай бұрын
Thanks for your feedback :) Yeah I can understand your disappointment, but honestly for me it's not about covering every last detail of these machines, I just want to print miniatures and figure out how much the machine helps or hinders me in this regard. Superfluous features like in this case a pump that adds unnecessary complexity to the machine, and extra work to clean up when changing resins or pulling out the vat just seems like a headache to me and not worth the fuss.
