If any of the measurements confuse anyone, go to 2:47 and pause to go frame by frame using , and . You can watch him do each measurement 3 times and track through until he gets to the one you need to see.

Love it! My Ender 3 had a starting calibration score of 189, but after a couple of round of adjustments it’s up to 758. In addition to the cal values that this produces, the measurements uncovered and fix a few physical problems on my printer (z axis backlash in my case).

It is not so easy so measure it perfectly and to be always perpendicular. Also the amount of slight pressure on the calliper changes the values. But it worked at the end and I saw how good the raise3d pro3 from factory was. 700 points but after calibration I got 980. so nearly perfect… thanks

Dude... I'm willing to fork some cash over, work needs to be payed, however: Make a bundle with both Califlower and Calilantern for £10 and it's a deal. Yes, I'm a cheapskate. Call it haggling 😝 Still, a bundle would be a good idea. Maybe then I get that Ender 3, banana edition to print something resembling a circle...

The points 9 and 10 were a bit complex for me. The images were not clear enough that I had to measure it with the internal part and not with the external part that is part of the base. Maybe a video or KZfaq short of how to measure the most complex points would be a great idea for people like me. But I can ensure that your method is by far the best and more complete. That is why I bought it (even not being super cheap for me, I am Argentinian and it cost around 3 thousands pesos after all the taxes we have to pay for things in another currency, but still not expensive ) and I can recommend it. Great tools for people like me who loves tinkering and fine tunning my machine. Keep the good work!

Many years ago (about 10+) when i had my first printer, the wooden Replicator Dual i squared and trammed it out but found my prints to be slightly off in X/Y so i simply tightened the belt until was able to jog the head and measure the difference with my caliper. I found if i did the same measurement starting from the other end it would be off by a bit, in which i learned the dimensional relationship between the stepper motor and the closest link to the tool head. And it changes between enclosed and open prints (ABS or PLA, etc) I would recommend printing out one of those belt tension tools in petg, just to get a relative position on the tension your adjusting

I've printed and measured, but I am confused on the instructions from there. Printed using Anycubic Kobra Max sliced in Cura. After filling outt the sheet the adjustments I am to make are 1. Modifying firmware for SKEW 2. Material Shrinkage in Cura (combines XY) And that's all? or add 3. Steps/Axis part scaling I can add the material shrinkage values in Cura and modify firmware, but if my Internal measurements are off my -0.27% and external by -0.03% then this will likely just decrease the internal error and increase the external error. Would I then Adjust horizontal expansion? what if it is different between X and Y axis? My XY skew was negligible, but my X axis was far more off than my Y and all internal measurements were all more undersized than the external measurements. Any help would be great

EDIT: It turns out that I was not doing anything wrong, but rather there was a problem with the calculator itself. Thankfully Adam was made aware of this and is working on a fix. Still a bit of a bummer with the wasted time but I guess that its just my luck that the calculator broke right around the time that I bought it lol I have no idea why but my score is still worse than baseline after 4 calibrations. I always double check that I am measuring in the correct location, I make sure that my calipers are square with the print and use little pressure to not squish the part. I update the next sheet with skew settings I got previously. My score went down from 443 baseline to 283, I feel like I'm just wasting filament and time at this point...

First of all I want to say I admire your content. I have lots of questions about what you are showing here, I hope does not come out wrong. 1. Say you were to change your printing parameters like line width or anything flow related, would you need to redo the part for these settings? Holes and corners will look differently. 2. How about nozzle diameter? 3. I am quite sure you will need to do this for every type (PLA, ABS, ASA, PA...) of filament. Did you notice differences in same type of Filament (e.g. ABS) from different manufacturers or even colors? I sometimes see differences even between batches of the same brand because the raw material has changed. This is not too common though. 4. As I understand, you make the changes in the firmware. Can you set different materials there? Or would it be better set in the slicer for different types of filament? Either way, this looks so interesting I'm just gonna buy 🙂
@Vector3DP
@Vector3DP Жыл бұрын
Pretty much all of those questions are answered in the manual 👌 for the nozzle, you shouldn't need to redo it, but I've not tested that.

What's the appropriate slicing tolerance setting (in Cura, I'm not sure what the equivalent setting is in other slicers) for this print? Middle? Some of the designs I print need exclusive mode to fit properly, and I don't want to tune out the slight space between parts that that introduces.
@jabberwocktechnologies
@jabberwocktechnologies Жыл бұрын
Actually, thinking about this a bit more, I think exclusive is the right setting for this, though it's unlikely to make a huge difference. Other slicing tolerance options will add a tiny amount to the measurements against the outer walls. Slicing tolerance is a constant difference regardless of the object size though, so it's unlikely to matter at all for a larger print like this. Which mode is used for the calibration is also unlikely to affect the fit of different slicing tolerances for small parts. That's my best guess. I'd love to hear others' opinions though.

The item together with Excel spreadsheet doesn't worth the money if you use RRF. Do not waste time and money. I bought the item. I 3d printed it . I measured it several times. I adjusted the parameters in the printer configuration. I re-printed with new parameters. I measured again and the excel files tells me that the printer is more skewed than before. I am using duet3d board with RRF . There is a mistake in the calculations in the excel form. Also to take proper measurements on the diagonals is a PITA.

@@Vector3DP I'm very confident that your skew calculator flipped the AC and BD measurements. If i punch in the recommended skew numbers into klipper and then ask klipper console to output with GET_CURRENT_SKEW it will spit out the reverse (flipped sign convention). it's possible my printer is dumb but it took me a few prints to figure out why it was getting worse each time.

I would love to try it, but I find it too expensive. For those of us who have a 3D printer as a hobby, 10€ for the model is too much. I understand that it takes a lot of work in the studio to make it, but I think at a lower price it would sell a lot more units, which would cover that price drop. my two cents
@richardmoore6316
@richardmoore6316 Жыл бұрын
I disagree. And it's not just a model - it's a comprehensive guide, a model, and a calculating spreadsheet that collects the measurements, analyzes them, and provides updated parameters for common versions of printer firmware and slicers. It would likely have taken me a couple of days or more to develop this even for just my own printing tool set.

@@float32 I've been printing engineering parts since 2015. You need to calibrate and measure the hell out of your printer. Totally agree. Califlower takes care of speeding up the XY compensation very efficiently. If there are issues in skew and Z in your printer, you need to take care of it. You don't need a calilentern and 3h for this.
