There is also a town called "Las Catalinas"up northwest in Costa Rica, which is a mediterranean town (also its mostly pedestrian) that you can take awesome hikes with beach views and its free!! @Dee Absolutely. But they are elusive and primarily active at dawn and dusk so you’ll unlikely ever see one in the wild. Especially given just how dense the forests are. But earlier this year one was spotted chilling on a beach watching surfers at Santa Rosa National Park. Google “Costa rica jaguar beach” and you’ll find some photos the surfers took from a boat they had used to get to the surf spot. There are 6 different types of wild cats that roam Costa Rica. The Jaguar being the largest.
