Recklinghausen is the northernmost city in the Ruhr-Area and the capital of the Recklinghausen district. It borders the rural Münsterland and is characterized by large fields and farms in the north and industry in the south. •The Recklinghausen Rathaus is the town hall of the city of Recklinghausen, located in the northern Ruhr region of Germany. The building was built between 1903 and 1906 in neo-Gothic style. •The Hoheward dump is a tailings dump in the Ruhr area. It was created from fill from the Recklinghausen II colliery, the Ewald colliery and the General Blumenthal/Haard colliery. Located between the towns of Herten and Recklinghausen, but mostly in the Hertener Mark (1.62 km² vs. 0.15 km² in Hochlarmark), it forms, together with the Hoppenbruch dump and the nearby Emscherbruch central landfill in the Resser Mark to the west, the largest dump landscape of the Ruhr area.
