Imagine a country like Vietnam which was almost totally destroyed by the war, and yet the beauty still exists all over the place. I am assuming that you will be heading South to Ho Chi Minh City someday. If you are, then search for a video posted by MrDiamondbackDave and watch it. It called "Fly Over Ho Chi Minh City - Saigon - Vietnam Best Aerial Drone Flycam Footage".

There are about 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam. Most of them are living in North Vietnam. Mai Chau has a concentration of the Thai, Hmong, and M’mong people. You can tell the difference by the construction of their houses and their clothes. Watch out for the Thai women. They may steal your heart.

Say, how do you think the elderly deal with homes on those taller stilts? What if they are on canes and such? Area reminds me of the jungle bungalows you and Ellen partook of earlier in your trip to Vietnam. The rice paddy footage is exactly what I have always pictured Vietnam to look like, pastorally speaking that is. Not what I know the cities look like, but, what a picture postal card of the country side would look like. :)

Unlike China where their doctors only need to spend 4 years studying herbal medicine and 2 years intern. Vietnamese doctors are studied in Russia, Japan, France, UK, and the USA. That is one of the reasons that their International Hospitals are full of patients from mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, S Korea, Europe, Canada, and America. Vietnam is also a member of the medical exchange program. If you are afraid to drink the tap water, then buy bottled water. Otherwise, there are pretty of coconuts.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 5 жыл бұрын
I've never had food poisoning in all my travels and I eat pretty much everything. So I don't worry about it. Nobody wants to get sick, including the locals, so food is generally safe around the world. Of course there are exceptions but it can happen anywhere. And yes drinking local water is generally not a good idea (depending on where you are). When in doubt, drink bottled water.

Silly question; I have 11 days off from work at the end of March (this month) as I have not used all my holiday entitlements at work. I'm thinking of going on an adventure around Europe for like 9 days, to visit maybe 7/8 countries. I have only ever been to a few places in Europe and after paying for the tickets I will have around £700, I can budget very well and I do cash in hand jobs when I'm not working and can save that, so lets say £850. I'm a little hesitant as I'm worried it won't be enough, I'm from the UK so getting back home is cheap but I'm just being anxious. What's your opinion? I ask so I can think logically

Daniel Marsden That is plenty of money for 9 days on a budget, especially if you are in Eastern Europe. But its a bit crazy visiting 8 countries in 9 days if you actually want to see any of the cities.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 5 жыл бұрын
It depends a lot on where you go. In northern and western Europe you might find your budget is a little tight and you would need to stay in hostels. In southern and eastern Europe you'll have plenty of cash and could afford simple private rooms. My personal suggestion: don't try to visit 8 countries in 9 days! You'll spend all your time on a bus or train and won't see very much. I'd try to see 2, maybe 3 countries maximum. But of course do what you want to do. Also it depends on where you've been already. Maybe just buy a flight somewhere and then wing it from there, don't make plans and see how long you want to stay? You might start in either Amsterdam or Prague and take it from there. Or check skyscanner, see where there are dirt cheap flights and that might help you make up your mind. By the way I liked Romania a lot and there's tons to see there. Maybe fly to Lisbon and see Portugal, Spain and France? Or go to Greece, the tourist season will just barely be starting on some of the popular islands like Mykonos and Santorini (might not be hot enough for swimming though). Anyway good luck with the decision making, and let us know how it went! I'd be curious to hear where you end up going. You could leave a comment under a video when you get back.

Banks tend to freeze account if transactions are made overseas. Do you call your bank before heading out for a trip out of the country? Do you have to pay extra for using mobile phone data internationally?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I inform my bank which countries I'm going to. I log into the Wells Fargo website and do it there. And luckily I don't get charged anything extra for cell phone coverage. I have T-Mobile and they have great international coverage. It works when you arrive in most countries (it didn't work in the UAE, Oman, Jordan and Morocco).

Cash is King. After I get off the plane, I always exchange enough money to pay for cab fare to the hotel. Once I unpack my luggage, I head to the nearest banks to exchange my money. The second thing that I do is to replace my phone's sim card with the local sim card.

Hi Erin, I reserved it at a tourist office in Hanoi. I forget the name but I showed it in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r7WilNaa2ZyRpWQ.html

I always wonder if those buses have restrooms ...

For long distance, there is a restroom on the back of the bus. For short distance, the bus will stop at a specific place where you can get drinks, foods, snacks as well as going to the restrooms. I did a tour in St Petersburg, Russia, and the bus stopped in the middle of nowhere. The driver then told us to do it wherever we like in the bushes.

There weren't bathrooms on any of the buses I took in Vietnam, including the deluxe-ish one from Ninh Binh to Halong with the reclining seats.

@@GabrielTravelerVideos Good night! Are you serious! ? Gads, I have to think about those looooonger hauls and peoples' dire needs! Now, will buses stop for people who have to go, or for women (how do I ask this?) who have to attend to sanitary needs (if you get my drift)?

Where are most of the European tourists from? Germany, Russia, France, the US, etc...?

Saw alot of French tourists when I was in Hanoi, most likely because Vietnam was a former French colony

If you visit Cam Ranh, Da Nang, or Nha Trang, you will find a lot of Russian. Most of them are living in the regions. European tourists love Da Lat. Most Europeans who are retired spend their winter there because the weather and the area are very nice. Flowers and fresh vegetables everywhere in Da Lat.

HEY GABRIEL, A VERY ENJOYABLE VIDEO MY FRIEND. I WAS GONNA GO TO VIETNAM NEXT MONTH BUT DON'T KNOW IF I HAVE THE TIME. WITH THE SONGKRON FESTIVAL COMING UP ON APRIL 13TH THROUGH THE 15TH IT WOULD BE PUSHING MY TIMELINE JUST A BIT. I NOTICED YOU DO ONE OF THE SAME THING THAT I DO. WHEN PEOPLE ASK WHERE YOU ARE FROM AND YOU SAY AMERICA YOU THEN SAY "CALIFORNIA. " I FIND MYSELF DOING THE SAME THING. I THINK IT'S BECAUSE MOST PEOPLE AROUND THE WORLD KNOW OF CALIFORNIA OR NEW YORK THAT IT GIVES THEM A REFERENCE POINT. JUST ONE OF THOSE QUIRKY LITTLE THINGS. ANOTHER THING I WANT TO ASK ABOUT. DO YOU LIKE OR RECOMMEND GOING ON GUIDED TOURS OR JUST DOING IT ON YOUR OWN ? TO ME YOU SEEM MORE OF THE ROAMING AROUND ON YOUR OWN KIND OF GUY BUT I NOTICED THAT YOU ARE ON AN ORGANIZED TOUR IN THIS VIDEO. I'VE DONE BOTH MYSELF AND FIND IF I HAVE LIMITED TIME IT'S BETTER TO GO ON THE TOURS. LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR NEXT VIDEO MY FRIEND. SAFE TRAVELS.

That was exactly the deal. I would have rather gone up there on my own, stayed a few nights somewhere and explored around by bicycle by myself rather than on a tour. But logistically it wouldn't have worked since I only had a day and there aren't many buses going there direct from Hanoi. So it just made sense to do a tour in this case.

Vietnam is not part of Asia's Golden Triangle i.e. Thai, Burma, and Laos. If you get caught with drug possession, you are heading to jail for a long time. They will execute any drug traffickers over there.

Don't be a racist or you will stay in your mom and dad's basement to the rest of your life, boy. For your information, most backpackers are young White boys and girls from Europe to America and Australia. There is another way to travel the world without money i.e. enlist in the Navy. I was a naval officer before I retired years ago, and had traveled to a lot of countries. I am still traveling at my age, but not as often as when I was young.
