6 ай бұрынI (Gavin) took an undeserving take of the Volkswagen MK5 R32. You weren't happy with the video, and we weren't happy with the video. So we decided to do something about it. Gavin finally threw the MK3 R32 a bone, and had some fun with it in the snowy mountains behind Salt Lake City.

Just bought my MKV R32 last week. Lots of giggles so far. Yes the DSG could sometimes be smoother but when it works it WORKS! As a rowdy 72 y.o. I love the tastefully done interior and the sleeper aspect of the car. And yes it's planted but also chuckable (lots of twisties around here). And that noise! Oh lord the noise. And when I want to get totally crazy I get into my MK1 and thrash it.

Exactly. It's by no means a #1 car for thrashing. But if you have that other car, the Mk5 R32 is still an entertaining daily that gives you so flair, especially when you get some louder pipes. Congratulations!

Still cool! And 2000s things are making a comeback. Definitely a bargain compared to where MK4 R32s are going!

You otta try one with a turbo kit on it. Sure is no slouch 😉🐌 & upgraded sport clutch packs and high flow cat and a 88mm exhaust! Kind of unlocks the VR6 in a way it should be driven to be appreciated.

That would be awesome! We know of a Mk4 R32 in our local area that has been boosted. Would be a fun kind of day for sure!

You will daily a car more often than you thrash it! I've owned a lot of GTIs 4/5/6 - S3 8L, 8V and now an R32 mkv. I can imagine the Mk4 R32 being closest to the S3 8L, which was an electrical gremlin and really hard to thrash around the streets or between traffic lights to 'express' myself. The R32 can thrash far more easily and far more controlled than the Mk4 (gti) and then resume casually driving rather than keeping a buzz about itself. It can do it all, its just a master of none - apart from the noise.

The noise is really the only department that it excel in. It's true that thrashing/pushing a car takes up very little of the ownership time frame. Thanks for watching! -Gavin

It still sounds like it's the DSG letting you down here. I wonder how much closer a manual Mk5 would get to the Mk4 for you.

Like.... Only a little. It was better behaved than the first time I drove it and we had a more suitable environment to conduct the review. Unfortunately, we didn't get the manual Mk5 R32 here in the states. Would be rad though. Thanks for watching! -Gavin

The MKV R32 is a great R32!!! Based On the new ( then) chassis. Very stable and the DSG….great recipe for carving canyon roads.

What kind of aftermarket exhaust does the car have? I recently purchased a mk5 r32 and happy with it.

This one is a Neuspeed with removable inserts. Naturally for the review, we had them taken out. Congratulations on the recent acquisition and thanks for watching!

As nice as these are i still prefer the look of the mk4. Nice that you got the redemption for this one though

The redemption was needed for sure. Like I said in the video, I'm taking a Mk4 over Mk5 every single time, but I'm glad I was able to update my opinion. -Gavin
