Thanks for the demo Tom. Of course this is a monotype!! Many printmakers do several layers for a monotype. If it is one unique image that cannot be repeated, then it is a monotype!!

Just because you layer, doesn't make it NOT a monotype. It's an image that can't be editioned so that makes it a monotype. The citrus oil thinner is an interesting idea.

Yes, the citrus thinner really responds radically different than a mineral or petroleum solvent like turps or kerosene. It's a lot of fun to play with.

It's a wax drawing/writing tool, also known as a china marker, chinagraph pencil, or wax pencil.
