Arcanine was originally gonna be the third legendary but they thought it was weird to have two flying and one on the ground

Bulbasaur isn't the only first-stage starter with a secondary typing as Rowlet also has one, being Grass-Flying

Zapdos requires the use of surf outside of battle which isn't available unless you beat Koga.
