Is anyone interested in getting this insanely wide Brightin Star 9mm f/5.6 lens? Or have you already bought one from another brand?

11:10 The addition of the ND filter lengthens the optical path because glass has a higher refractive index than air. It's a common challenge in astrophotography where filters are almost always used and the scope must be refocused if the filters are not parfocal. It's also why the manufacturers of super telephoto lenses with drop-in filters recommend that a filter be present all the time.

The distortion is present on the edges. Your summary is good. The lack of lens flare is absolutely amazing as an achievement so much surface area on that front element begs for the problem. I prefer the image quality with the nd filter on - there may be some polarisation on the filter.

yes i'm a bit surprised by the really good lens flare performance. yes there are definitely some noticeable distortion

Hey Richard, how do you think it compares to the laowa 10mm 2.8? Is the AF and aperture worth the extra size and weight? Mostly from a photography perspective

AF makes things a lot easier. But it's not needed for such wide angle lenses. I do think 10mm is already wide enough, 9mm is insanely wide which makes it hard to use in terms of composition.

What is the additional stop between 5.6 and 8.0? 6.3 or 7.1? I don't understand why it hasn't a number

Not sure what is the exact number . My guess is f/6.7 which is right in between f/5.6 and f/8.

You use pro grade sd cards? How has your success been? Using them for 4K?

Yes i use the ProGrade cards, I have two that i have been using frequently. Yes for recording 4k footage with the Lumix S5II, seems pretty good so far!

Lens might be good and I wanna buy, just before click to checkout I read return policy on the website, WTF?! "90 days return!........... but" and laundry list of their "rules" and restock fee etc. Didn't see that BS for a while and consider to decline buying it because of shty return policy and how they threat clients. If someone wanna "30% replacement fee" etc "If the order has been shipped but not received, if you need to cancel or replace the product, you need to pay a processing fee of 30% of the order." PayPal will cover you from that fishy stuff, but c'mon, if post office messed up, or they missing something (forget your building number or so) you will pay 30% of not a cheap price. "No, thanks!" Just dont wanna support company like this.

@@orange42 yeah that's a pretty good choice. But 14mm is a lot tighter than this 9mm lens so very different field of view. I am reviewing a lens that is pretty much just as wide as this but much faster. The lens will be released in a few weeks time

Such a dumb from them to not mention in specs filter thread. Look like might 37mm or 46mm'ish, but it is a bummer, and especially that what the heck just do not tell the thread of "nd" filter, simple huh?

As well the quality and 400 bucks price tag is questionable. They need to be more down to the earth.
