Hello, Somali here. Some of the songs were made before the socialist revolution in 69, and some after when Somalia abandoned communism when it wasn't favourable for the regime in the early 80s. Somalia wasn't really communist, despite the countless Mao and Lenin paintings at the time, It was a ploy to receive weapons from the Soviets and it worked till 77, literacy rates and Somalia's economy improved. Some of these songs have nothing to do with communism, just praising Siad Barre, the former dictator of Somalia, who in fact caused the troubles that eventually led Somalia into what it is today. Some songs such as Midab Gumeysi Diida was made specifically for the whole of Africa as Somalia was a key player in the pan-african movement.

I am not denying that somalia was part of the communist countries but these songs are mainly motivation songs for the unity and freeing the greater Somalia and ofcourse the freedom of the rest is Africa such us South Africa and so on, and somali people are probably the best in expressing with words , I wish everyone could understand

Somalia was communist till ogaden war then it became a fascist state! If africa was communist I would’ve not been in Europe instead been in Africa that’s paradise on earth. May Allah give strength to Somalia. A somali is a brother to another somali no matter the tribe or region he/she currently lives. We need leaders who think for next generation the children. We must improve so our children are not affected by the western disease of homosexuality and lost identity. Allah has blessed us with so much. Return to Allah and rule with Islamic principles. We dont fear death, we welcome the afterlife as our blessing to heaven. Do not allow your waters to be run by foreign nations.

I appreciate how many of these songs are unique and not just Somali versions of western socialist music. Also, where on Earth do you find this? Somalia isn't even a de facto country anymore. They have minimal infrastructure, non-existent online presence, no central authority. I guess they were Marxist-Leninist for a time, but still, how the hell do you find an hour worth relatively high-definition Somali communist music? You mystify me GETchan.

There are thousands upon thousands of records being uncovered in Somalia after they were hidden in an attempt to preserve them from the dictator when the rebellion began. Maybe the channel owner got into contact with the people that rediscovered these records.

Somalis have very active online community, much more so than most stable African countries, you can find thousands upon thousands of Somali history, poetry, music, art and culture online, just google it or search in KZfaq.

Because African/Arab socialists and communists aren't too fussed about opposing religion (certain sects and orders do get opppsed) and often use it to advance their ideology.
